What’s a special inspector??
@HisboiLRoi Жыл бұрын
@@erikrobles5727 - Approval of certain facets of a project sometimes requires expertise and knowledge beyond that of a general building inspector. A special inspector is an independent expert in a particular field that signs off on, or sometimes rejects, those portions of a project. On more complex designs, there are sometimes multiple special inspectors covering different disciplines. What work requires a special inspection can vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. The cost for special inspections is over and above the standard permit fees.

@@LIBERTY0RDEATH How is it you are missing the problems that were caused by the incorrectly done work, by the house flippers caused. There are reasons to do the work correctly and there are knowledgeable inspectors to ensure that the work is done correctly. That is the original reason building codes were established, and are still relevant, even if building codes may have gone beyond what is necessary.😊

Don’t know if it’s something you already knew or if you learned to communicate better with them but either way so many employers and supervisors could make their workplaces more welcoming and friendly, not mention improve team morale and efficiency by learning even basic Spanish. You see a person more as an individual with their own unique traits and personality when you can communicate with them in a way that feels more natural to them.

What i do recommend while doing drains, is that you put the gravel inside geotextile to make sure that the dirt over years dont sink between the gravel, displacing the the dirt and soil above it (making a sinkhole effect) or at heavy rain dont pull out the soil too fast to clog or just displace the soil. Usually what you should do is to lay a texile bed with 1.5x more lenght at one of the side, fill in the gravel then wrap the whole thing up to the top, then put the soil on it. The gravel bed will work as a soft tube collecting all the water while preventing soil collapse on it.

Seamless gutters and siding are nice. The home I grew up in was built in 1907. The sides of the house were much longer than the front and back wall of the house. I am honestly surprised this addition to the house even passed inspection before it sold and beforw yall redid it! Especially in California in a wealthy area! This reminds me of my dad's construction company back in the early 2000s. I would sometimes go to work with him when I was a kid. He never skimpped on work and did stuff right. He built custom homes and did fencing with his buddy. Unfortunately, 2008 came along and screwed pretty much everyone over. He taught me to do stuff correctly as it will cost less in the long run. He and his friend had a few guys that worked for them but their houses and fences are still standing with minimal issue 20 years later! I can tell you know what you are talking about given all the stuff I experienced with my dad and multiple projects we have done over my lifetime (I'm only 22 but I guess that's still lots of my life helping with projects lol).

I bought a house in Missouri and apparently there were issues where the rain came in around the windows in the basement. So instead of fixing the gutters they silicone with many tubes. I called a gutter company and they removed the old ones which he said were too small for the pitch of the roof. Also had him put leaf guards in because from high up to the ground was over 30 feet. The old gutters had caked in junk and downspouts were clogged. After that we went with new windows. The guys that put up the new seamless gutters did a beautiful job and very quickly.

Their repairs to their rentals were usually done on the cheapest way possible. I knew I didn't want to buy a house kept together with 'duct tape.' House I finally did buy came with well documentation of all the work done by companies with insurance and warranties to their work.

You seem quite knowledgeable in your craft. I have a couple ideas that might interest you: 1. I'd wait 7 days to remove forms on a loaded concrete wall as 3 days isn't enough cure time for most concrete mixes. 2. I use either an MDO plywood or a concrete form board (similar to MDO but a bit cheaper) to form exposed faces of concrete with form oil to alleviate the wood pattern. All that said, I wish my guys would learn to vibrate the concrete as well as you did. It looks great aside from the wood pattern!

@brolohalflemming7042 Жыл бұрын
Yep. I've just binge watched these 4 vids and there was a comment on the first one about how this happens. Simple answer is greed. When flipping became a thing, some people (ex-friends) said I should do this because they were making so much money. My response was along the lines of "What do I know about construction?". Their answer was I didn't need to, just get the work done cheap, make it look good enough to sell and move on to the next project.. Which is why they're not my friends any more. I can't stand people who think that doing a bad job is good business, especially when that means someone is going to find out that their dream home is actually a nightmare. I like to sleep well. Luckily I did learn some things along the way, like asking contractors to do a job on the cheap. If they say yes, they're not going to get the job. If they explain why I should do it properly, they probably will. Getting it done right the first time may cost a bit more, but saves the extra cost, hassle and headaches of having a bad job ripped out and done properly. Flippers just don't care, because they don't see fixing their mess as their problem. They can pretty much be the definition of what happens when you just paper over the cracks.

From what I've seen with different retaining walls, you pretty much just don't want to use building cement blocks since they have terrible horizontal load strength. They work well for walls but like you said, it is best to fill with concert and have rebar support. That is were the problem lies since it doesn't allow easy drainage of water through the wall and it ends with it getting blown out.
