The creatures had to be quite intelligent to build structures like the ones 3000+ ft. underground. It is possible that the aliens were once peaceful. The scene where Rachel finds herself inside a pit of blood and rotten flesh definitely pays homage to The Descent, that bit and the Jason's arc/Salim's moment where Salim gets Jason to come clean about his doubts on his own country's orders and become more human are by far the best points of the game. I like the Salim/Jason moment bc people seem to forget this detail but irl a lot of north american Iraq-war veterans became anti-war and anti-goverment many years later after the horrors they had to see and how many inocents were massacred following a blind idea of "them vs us". The game is actually quite good showing a human, reluctant iraqi soldier forced to become a killing machine who doesnt want to kill and just wants to live in peace with his son, and the seasoned but clueless us soldiers. Eric and Rachel are by far my least favourite characters because by the end of the game, even after Salim sacrificed so much for them, they were still willing to leave him behind in the 'motherlode' just because he was "the enemy" (but had no issue going back for Nick who "was one of them"), but Jason having been humanized by Salim breaks orders yet again and sets off to find his friend, completing his character arc flawlessly.

There's a mention if you find one of the creature's skulls that the fangs seem to have broken through from the inside. I wonder if those parasites eat their way into the brain and replace it, poking their fangs/spines through the skull and essentially taking over the host body.
@ImperativeGames3 жыл бұрын
Yes. Usually parasites that kill and even really harm their victims are not... mm... endemic. Like getting a cow parasite will kill you, because, well, you are not a cow. Smaller and stuff. So, aliens probably got that parasite from some planet they visited and it infected some of the crew. Caused some fight against the infected so they crashlanded. I think the infected human do not turn in the winged monsters but into a human version of it because the cause of the change is a parasite. Like, on Earth, parasites do not change entirely the physical of its host, only change the inside and sometime lightly the outside. For example, we know that the -visible- features of the parasite are pointy rabbit teeth and spikes in the back. So, if the parasite invades a cow, the cow will gain pointy rabbit teeth and back spikes, but will not become a winged monster. With this, we can deduct that the wings and the eyeless head are features to the original species that were the monsters. Also, Mary's notes mentionned that the creatures were peaceful and great ingeneers before, and something made their empire fall. So, my theory is : Before, the creature were less ugly, with no teeth and back spikes, and were a great civilisation -maybe even great explorers. But one day, either only the ship we saw in Rachel's vision, either the whole civilisation got infected with some alien parassite, making the ship fall on earth. After the crash the creatures started to mutate, then kill each others in order to get blood. But since the blood of the creature wasn't good for the parasite, it decided to use the ability of its host to hibernate and wake up when good blood knock on the door.

At the ending of House of Ashes with Eric and Rachel stopping by a diner on a rainy night after getting married and off to their honeymoon, then the couple getting into a car accident, I couldn't shake this feeling that the diner is the same diner that the main character of Little Hope Andrew stop at before heading to his old town. So I decide to watch the scene where Andrew was at the diner and getting stop at the road block, and I came a theory and this is just a theory meaning it's never right but what if Andrew was there around the time Eric and Rachel were in that Car crash. While watching the video that Andrew was getting back on the bus, I notice that the ground and roads were wet like it just rain, then when Andrew was stop at the road block the officer told Andrew the reason that there a road block was because of then big accident, and Eric lost his leg in a car accident which could've been the same big accident that the Officer was blocking. But it's just a theory and couldn't never be right.

No it was not, the House of Ashes storyline after the Prologue was set in May 30, 2003, Little Hope storyline after the Prologue is set on May 27,2019, 16 years after that, that is why you can see the rest of the characters having smartphones halfway through to represent the present time. You can even check the wiki fandom. "After Prologue, Act 1 - On May 27, 2019[1], a small group from college (students Andrew, Angela, Taylor, and Daniel, and their professor John) are on a bus trip. As they drive through the woods of Massachusetts, the driver is forced to take a detour through the abandoned town of Little Hope. Before reaching the town, he spots a girl on the road too late and, trying to avoid her, causes a bus crash. Once the group comes to their senses, they notice that the driver has disappeared. The five begin discussing what to do, only to discover that they cannot turn back because of the fog, which brings the group back to where they left. Forced to enter the town, the group finds a bar and goes inside, hoping to find help. In the bar, they spot only a drinking man named Vince, who gives the group no information, causing them to continue their journey. On the way, Andrew and Angela fall behind and, upon discovering a strange straw doll, find themselves in 1692, where they encounter a girl named Mary and a hooded woman named Amy. Back in the present, the two tell the others what happened. At first, the trio doesn't believe them, but their doubts soon dissipate once they encounter Amy again and are shocked to see that she looks just like Angela. After what they saw, the five decide to split up to find a way out, with Andrew and John continuing down the road and Taylor and Daniel following the trail while Angela goes with one of the group. Unfortunately, both groups find nothing (though Andrew can find a gun) and soon regroup. Along the way, however, they are taken several times back in time. It turns out that Mary was confronted by Reverend Carver, who thought that she was a witch, causing the girl to accuse Amy of witchcraft. As a result, she was arrested, tried, and sentenced to execution, despite attempts of her husband Joseph, John's double, to protect Amy. Wanting to find out what will happen to Angela's double next, the five follow an unexplored road and reach a ruined bridge. The group decides to cross it one by one, with John, Andrew and Angela going first, but part of the bridge collapses, separating Daniel and Taylor from them. Moreover, the trio witnesses Amy's execution, followed by the Drowned Demon's attack in the present. The boys manage to escape while Angela escapes as well or is caught and killed by the demon." That scene from the diner was a way to tie in the stories together in the same world, as if they are all in a grand narrative. One accident doesn't connect to another, it was an isolated incident. Still, I could not believe how you could not see the smartphones, they were using them to call for help and to use as flashlights, they were as clear as day, and they were constantly using them after the crash till the end despite the whole true nature of the story in the end. You thought Andrew saw the future and knew what kind of cellphones people were going to use in the future? Perhaps you might get the next story connections right at some other game next time, if you research thoroughly first that is.

Until Dawn had the strongest build-up to its major threat and its premise. The sanitorium was introduced at an appropriate time, and the cause of the wendigos was well-timed. Little Hope was the most disappointing so far, not because the story wasn't engaging or interesting, but because there wasn't anything mystical about it--it was just a case of MPD through survivor's guilt. It was a road-bump in comparison to how Until Dawn set us up with actual wendigos. Man of Medan was interesting, though rather unforgiving and tedious to get a satisfying conclusion. It meant you couldn't mess up the escape attempt, and you couldn't leave through the air lift. House of Ashes finally hit the beautiful mark of the wendigo-mythical allure, however its build-up was too slow for the major threat and worried too much on involving real-time political events and wasted too much time around the love-affair relationships (for my opinion). Additionally we could have had more involvement with the monsters and their 'warren' and more emphasis on the 'curse', but I know the game tried its best to fit a lot of content into the cracks. There are a lot of skips between scenes (in one scene standing up over someone, next scene kneeling beside them) which made it feel rushed and disjointed. The biggest strength in terms of mechanics, to me, was the major-fight sequences; I feel those were quite effective. If the story had just been about an archaeological military group that went to investigate the ruins once enemy territory was captured and THAT team came across this issue, I would have been more satisfied with the execution of the game. But I feel like there was too much being pushed into the game that could have been left ambiguous or harmless; political tensions, 'war is bad' motto, et cetera. All in all, I'm actually happier with this game than I was with Little Hope, and slightly happier than Man of Medan. There still has yet to be a worthy successor to Until Dawn, so I'm interested to see what they have set for the Hotel. Just a mass-killer that pulls a Jigsaw with a better plot is definitely something I'd be looking forward to. If not, then I can only assume that we'll actually have ghost hauntings instead of what we had with Little Hope and Man of Medan.

@@blazz3178 understandable, but what carries House Of Ashes too is the "enemy of my enemy is my ally" theme. For me and a lot of people according to the other comment sections, Salim and his relation with the marines later on really makes the game better. In the first one, they're just a stupid bunch of friends, in the second, they're just... nothing (which is why the ending is really underwhelming, at least in Man Of Medan your friends were real, here I felt like I did literally the whole game for nothing). Here, you really feel that the persons that shouldn't collaborate can do in the end, and that the danger is real and forcing them to
@ChadHellgado3 жыл бұрын
@@blazz3178 When your plot twist is the writers going “Psych! The plot never happened haha!” You just wasted everybody’s time. Your entire adventure was meaningless, all the life or death decisions have no consequences. They had an interesting horror mystery tale going on but shoved it aside for a cheap plot twist that told us “Hey your protagonist just hallucinated the entire game and in reality, wandered around town looking like a retard”. At least when Man of Medan did it, their plot twist was ironic since you got kidnapped by Pirates looking for Manchurian Gold upon a haunted ship only to find out that the Gold wasn’t actually Gold but the name of a special gas that caused really bad hallucinations. Despite that, there’s still a real threat, people can die and you’re still trapped in the middle of the ocean instead of stumbling around town like a dipshit.
