I was forced into a life change. I had to move from a large beautiful home to an apartment. I have shoved things into a storage unit because I didn't want to let go of that life. I've lived in a cluttered apartment because I was sure that I wouldn't be there forever. I've finally turned the corner and I'm ready to let things go but getting started is hard. I've wasted thousands on storage but I wasn't mentally ready to let go. It now feels like a burden that is dragging me down. It's time!

We have a free store in town where you can donate stuff and only people in that town can go as long as you paid for a yearly sticker of five bucks!!! It's great! Or just putting things on the sidewalk or yard with a free sign. Love it!

Living estate sale is a wonderful way to keep things out of the landfill, to rehome, etc. after the estate sale have a “free event”.

Saturday 12-21-24, I posted the bike I have had for 12 years. It has moved with me six times. I haven’t used it the point I don’t remember. The lady who got it, her husband cycles a lot. Now she has a bike to ride with him sometimes.

Another great episode! I was literally laughing out loud when you were talking about flat surfaces. I dabble in writing, just for pure enjoyment. I have a little story called "My Flat Surface Affliction". 😂😂 Wishing all of you at The Minimalists, a very happy holiday season!

I do "setting the stage", too! The day before, just as you described. Now I have a name for this process 😊

Love this 🎉 flat surfaces are definitely magnets! But drawers are a disaster for ADHD people, so mental clutter for already mentally challenged people … Haha that’s why I am trying to donate things that are stored in the drawers first instead of stacking them up

I underwent screening for ADHD in adults this month, and sadly, I was referred for further testing and may have it. I do agree about drawers, I breathed a sigh of relief when I got them ALL organized 😂 that said, I only have 5, and that's intentional

Love The Minimalists you guys and gals are helping make my holidays festive 🥰 Also in the keeping and donation conversations, there's "churning": moving an item from one room to the next (but not getting rid of it). That can be a tool to get the item to the correct location, or it could be a way to keep something we didn't want in the house in the first place!

How do you deal with Christmas? All the expectations?
@JenOoooАй бұрын
@@taraleightaracumming6726 the only expectations you need to meet are your own. Don't be afraid to say no, politely with a sprinkle of love of course. It's hard to say at first, especially if it's someone close, but it gets easier.

Right! Conflicted this Christmas, lol. Boxes of items I'm decluttering, while a pile of Christmas Gifts grows in the corner. Sigh. It's laughable.

People own possessions. Possessions don't own you unless you owe $$$ on it such as a mortgage, car loan, etc. The majority of the population are highly conscious of sustainability and resourcefulness. Don't be afraid of 'things'.

How funny, I literally took out my fantasy self (the acrylic pouring artisté 😂) today! I've everything set up to finally make some beautiful random art with my many many many supplies, to have fun while doing it, and gift my canvas creations of love and positive energy to my family and friends for Christmas 🎁🎄 While listening to you gents too of course..... Let the fun begin 🎉🎉🎉
