House of Marley Get Together Demo Speaker Teardown (Part 3)

This short video shows the inside of the "Get Together" speaker in the demo display. There is no battery, no bluetooth chip, just a dedicated amplifier board made by Data Display to drive the speakers. It is a custom PCB made specifically to run boost the 3.5mm phono input, with power on as soon as plugged in (buttons are all dummies as well).

Marley em-ja013 sound box's internal battery was repaired due to a mistake, the ic on the main board was burnt. I can't identify the power and regulator ic, so I hope for a picture showing all the smd ic clearly. Please help me.

My speaker was out of a demonstration display and as you can see by the internal shots, was missing batteries in all units and whatever charging circuits would be with it. Basically, it was jus an amp powered directly to the speakers and no power/charging/battery capabilities at all in these "dummy" display models (meant only to showcase the sound and nothing more).

Maybe you can still use it for spare parts to repair a 'real' one eh ;] Part 3 hmm but... Where's pt 1? I wanna open my Get together Mini to fix the Micro SD charging port but with no damage to the casing.. Problem 1: No visible screws ;[

How can I purchase a new get together mini battery??

I don't know what battery is inside of a consumer unit. The one I got is a "demo" and had no battery or charging circuitry inside. I would look at the battery inside your unit (open it up) and read the specifications on the battery or battery pack, and measure the sizes of the cells, connector and type of battery chemistry. You should be able to find something similar online. Good luck!

Why does my marley speaker take 5-10 minutes to turn on ,is it just me or does it do that for you to ? It’s very annoying

If your speaker is taking that long it could indicate a bad capacitor on the main power supply. If you are handy with electronics, open up the speaker and inspect the main power supply for capacitors, bulging tops or what look like black marks on the top which indicates leaking electrolytic fluid. If you swap them out with new ones of the same rating (make sure installed with same polarity) it may fix it.

Correct, this is a demo display-stand version which functions just enough to show off the sound. So the speakers and case resonate beautifully but otherwise the electronics have been gutted. I can use it as a wired speaker or attach a small bluetooth module for wireless, but it is too much hassle to start building a battery/charge circuit for this thing (unless I can scavenge it off something else).

@@devhackmod Great videos!!! An identical display speaker ended up on my hands, everything gutted. I’d love to see you add that Bluetooth module. Just think the speaker looks beautiful and sounds quite good. It would be nice to know how to add that extra BT 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@ Yes, adding the BlueTooth isn't hard. You can get BT receivers for nothing. The problem is hooking up an internal power supply/battery and charging circuit. Otherwise if you are ok with it plugged in, getting the BlueTooth working is easy.

Not a fan of Marley blue tooth speakers - had two and both faulty after a few years and not worth fixing - pick a better brand what ever that is ?

Good to know! These "dumb" demo speakers I reviewed have way fewer parts to break as they are just amplifiers without any other function, accepting audio in through a cable (no Bluetooth and no Batteries). They sound good, but I can't judge the reliability of an actual Marley speaker that has all the features.
