The whole Targaryen family tree is incestuous. The king Viserys and his wife were Cousins. And Viserys and Daemons parents were siblings. So it’s completely normal for the Targaryens that’s why Daenerys had no problem still being with Jon even after she found out “who he was”

If you read the *A Game of Thrones* book, you will see that Daenerys fully expected to marry Viserys when he became King in Westeros, and even talked about likely marrying her nephew Aegon (not Jon, Rhaegar's son) when he grew up. So you are right that she was fully okay with keeping it in the family.

As horrifying as it is to watch, I really appreciate how this series doesn't shy away from the honest brutality that the human birthing experience can be. Just like Aemma, my son was "breech" and had to be cut out of me. He was a big baby- almost 10 lbs- and wedged (head-up) under my ribcage. My OBGYN attempted something called an "ECV," or "External Cephalic Version," which was basically a procedure where a team of people tried to turn the baby head-down by force *from the outside* by standing over me in a hospital bed, literally pushing and shoving through my belly. But he couldn't turn after 3 tries, so they ended up having to cut me open and deliver him by C-section anyway. Not to mention, my pregancy with him landed me in the hospital 2 other times prior to that, too... And, I had him after 2 miscarriages. I was only 25 years old. This episode hits hard. It serves as a stark (heh) reminder that had I been born even 100 years earlier, there is a very good chance that my son and I would have both died during his birth. I'm VERY thankful for modern medicine.

He probably just doesn't like seeing it, regardless of the historical facts. And that's perfectly normal. He sees things differently than you do. Doesn't make him ignorant by default. I know it's 'normal' in the world of ice and fire and common place in the real world but it's still cringey. Throughout human (civilised)history there have always been rules on cosanguinity. Written and unwritten. In medieval Europe, the Vatican had very clear rules on proximity. First cousin unions were deemed incestuous and were actually highly frowned upon. Anything further removed from that was 'okay' but not commonplace amongst the populace. Only in higher circles and even then, papal dispensations had to be obtained. With good reason. Imagine what Hapsburgs would've ended up if they had it entirely their way. It would be like King Tutankhamen all over again😂 nah, even back in the day, cosanguinity was a testy subject. They had to come up with a lot of b.s to justify 'keeping it in the family'. Cosanguinity contradicted what was already in the Bible. Anything from second cousins onwards was OK. This reactor is genuinely grossed out. Don't knock him for it.😂
@Taewills Жыл бұрын
@@GullibleTarget I don’t know what you’re trying to imply by throwing the word civilized (civilised) in there but civility has little to do with the topic. The Vatican may have publicly condemned a practice but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t commonplace (like racism / scientific research / child SA). Also the Catholic Church’s determinations had little bearing on what other countries were doing within Europe. For instance, England was Protestant led for many years. Especially in the Renaissance/ Victorian eras so the church’s impact wasn’t as impactful to those societies as you’re implying. And it certainly didn’t mean they weren’t “civilized”. Not only was marrying a cousin commonplace but expected as Jane Austen’s private memoirs about her own life had expressed.

Dany's oldest brother, Rhaegar became serious about becoming a warrior even though it wasn't in his nature and he seemed to have been resisting it for awhile. Then he suddenly changes his mind. The theory as to why is that he learned of the Song of Ice and Fire prophecy; either the mad king told him or he learned it himself from his bookish studies. The secret might have already become lost in the next 200 years. Anyway, Dany was born at the same time or before the Mad King, with her mother dying giving birth to her. Her brother Vicerys was a sheltered child with a mad father so he didn't have the info passed onto him. Rhaegar died when Robert killed him on the Trident, with no heir old enough to have passed to info onto. The dagger you noticed was indeed the same dagger. It devolved from being royal property to being placed in the hands of a cutthroat.

Everything IS better here. In this time, the targs are at the height of their power. The kingdom prosperous. We don’t see a lack of lavishness…and the budget is bigger lol

A few things Nepotism is really normal in this universe. Deamon is a prince because he is a male in the royal family. Deamon in fact just punished the guilty ones. And u see the hands ambition aswell since he sends his daughter to the king hours after the death of the queen

The Old King, reined long and was prosperous. This is the Targaryens at the height of their rein. Daemon was only enforcing the Crowns Law! He’s making the city safe for the Torney

It’s passed king to heir no one else so let’s say that heir dies and king dies it’s most likely it was lost during a conflict or pandemic, maybe the mad king told rhaegar and both died so one else knew

Uncle Daemon is right, Targaryens refused to interract/marry with Hightowers for a reason. Otto pimped out his teen daughter to sit his blood on the iron throne and he was plotting with maesters for years. That's why Viserys' son died. If Viserys listened to his brother the war and all mess wouldn't happen.
@slayerr3086 Жыл бұрын
You’re making up a whole bunch of sh!t here, buddy. Not to mention Corlys did the same thing Otto did, pimped out his even younger daughter to the King to get his blood on the thone. This is fucking Kingslanding of course everyone is plotting. If Viserys choose Laena instead of Alicent then the dance still would have happened except it would’ve been Velaryons vs Targaryens instead of Hightowers vs Targaryens

I think its most that people can recognize the smell of dragons here, rather than they stop smelling. In Dany's time, who would know that the weird smell coming off of her is dragons' scent, and not dothraki or literally anything else. And also, Rhaenyra is a princess living in the red keep surrounded by lords and ladies, she probably smells very nice when she doesn't smell of dragon. Dany lived a nomadic lifestyle for a long time and i don't think she had access to a bathe regularly. So I would suppose the smell on Dany may not have been that identifiable or as strong as it seems to be on Rhaenyra

They were gonna keep the swords but 200 years later, westeros' board of health and saftey were all over that. "Get that down ...its a death trap." Thats how it happened in my head anyway 😂

It's worth noting something that I feel a lot of people miss: the queen was going to die anyway. Viserys's choice was between letting them both die or saving his child whilst his wife died much more painfully
@JoaoVitor-is4zb Жыл бұрын
looks like they have more tthings because they are living in a empire that dont know war for long decades. The predecessor King Jaheares was onem of the greatest of them all for the people overall. Stability, peace and properity. By the time we start Game of Thrones Roberts Rebellion already happened breaking the empire for years and after that the wars against the Greyjoys invaders. Then the series starts and we have the war of the five kings, night king, daenerys, etc..

Yes it's the same Dagger that started the war of the 5 kings.

Daemon is certainly the most interesting and charismatic character on the show. I’m curious to see if your opinion changes about him at all. Yes, that’s the same dagger that Arya used on the NK. Otto was pimping out his daughter to the king.
@hoon_sol Жыл бұрын
Well, the title of a king's brother is generally prince regardless, but in this case Daemon is at that time heir to the throne too.
@shannyd1 Жыл бұрын
Huh, how can u agree Otto has more honour than Daemon when u just watched him pimp out his own young daughter and is clearly the one plotting. Daemon may be blunt and impulsive but he was spot on about Otto and clearly has his reasons to be disrespectful to him. Daemon actually would protect his brother from the council of leeches and showed genuine empathy for his niece & big brother. So u clearly wrong about Daemon being the one who plotting, Daemon actually loves his family.

He's not wrong. He sees it differently than you do. There are many people with differing opinions as they watch.. And opinions might change as he continues to watch. I'm not saying your opinion is wrong. I'm saying you can express yours whilst not disregarding his. Just saying. No shade no hate

This guy is very clear in his morals. He isn't swayed by Daemons Big Dragon Energy and swag😅 I can't help but love the character. I didn't care for him much in the novels but Matt Smith does an excellent job in portraying a very alluring but dangerous man. 😅

Hello sir. I am rewatching your HOTD reaction in preparation for the new season. What are you plans for Season 2? Are you reacting to it and where can we find it if you are? Thank you.

The Alicent-Rhaenyra "lost friendship" aspect IS the central driving force of Hotd. It's what provides the show with its emotion, angst & tragedy. Anyone who do not understand this is because they are a petulant Targ Cultist for whom scoring Sports Team dunks is more important than the beauty of the story. They get mad that hotd dares to have substance and nuance instead of being their self-inserf silver queen warlord cosplay/targsryen apology show. How dare the antagonists are themselves victims and made of sympathetic flesh and blood instead of being one dimensional cartoonish mustache twirling doormat villains with no characterization, arc of screentime. The average targ cultist wanted a snow white girlboss warlord vs 65 year old evil stepmom Disney movie. Hotd gave them a greej tragedy like sophocles instead. Tough luck oh well.
