I love Viserys' throne entrance so much. He absolutely loves his daughter and knew exactly what he had to do to support her. He couldn't drink milk of the poppy, otherwise it could be said his mind was addled. He couldn't be carried to the throne room, otherwise it could be said his mind was fogged by pain. He had to climb the iron throne unsupported, otherwise it could be said he's too weak to rule. He had to maintain his strength all day, until the family dinner, otherwise it could be said that he lacks the capacity to hold his realm together.

I love the dynamic between Daemon and Aemond even though we haven’t seen them exchange a single word with each other. Paddy Considine was my favorite part of this season. He took a character I didn’t care for while reading Fire & Blood and his performance turned him into one of the most complex and compelling/tragic kings in all of fiction.

The saddest part for me besides Viserys final dinner with his family was Daemon's reaction. He seemed so sad and lost seeing his brother suffer like that. Also, the last thing Viserys saw was everyone happy and enjoying each others company, I was actually sobbing multiple times in this episode. So powerful!

I gotta say, I'm not usually one to be all that emotionally moved when it comes to most things, but this episode wrecked me. From Viserys climbing out of his literal death bed to defend his daughter, and fought to his last breath just wanting to bring his family together. I think what this show does so well is show how all of these characters have a safety net choice throughout, but they ultimately choose in their own self-interest and it ultimately creates more chaos.

This is my favourite episode of the season! I cried on and off throughout it, especially when Viserys was watching his family enjoy themselves together with the haunting music in the background. You could feel the sorrow in his heart, being aware that he was going to die very soon. The decapitation scene was amazingly shocking and gruesome, and in that moment i loved Daemon and his viciousness. It had it all - heart, shock-factor, suspense, emotion and a twist at the end.

Fun fact, Viserys isn't actually that old. He's only 4 years older than Daemon. It's just the disease that's made him seem so. The throne room walk is my favorite moment in this whole series. GoT included and I have so many loved moments, but he's not walking into that room as a King. He's walking in there as a father. I love the Daemon crowning moment, but the real importance of this scene is him showing up for Rhaenyra when he really hasn't in the past. His love for her is so genuine, but it only strengthened after the death of Aemma. She's his only link to her and that makes his love for her so much greater. (Does suck for his other kids though 😬🤣). But the pain he chooses to to through for Rhaenyra is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. I've also seen many people be surprised by Rhaenys' choice, but she's one of the most honest and loyal characters on this show. She has always stood by her husband and she's telling the court the truth. Corlys wanted Driftmark to go to Luke. She's also one of the more logical characters and she sees the benefit from Rhaenyra's proposal. She may be my favorite character. Definitely should have been Queen.

For me this is the best episode of the series. I never expected to love Viserys as he is slightly different in the books. But my god paddy considine's performance is unavailable. He, and the writers have made an exceptional character out of a small chapter of what is really a history book. George RR Martin writes great characters but he only outlined this. Even he admits that they wrote him better than his outline. As someone who complained a lot when thrones went off from the books I whole heartedly agree with what the show writers have done with King Viserys, first of his name. Not the greatest king, but a great and flawed man!!

Viserys basically got some kind of nasty infection like leprosy from the cuts he kept getting on the Iron throne. You can also her a rattle in his lungs when he breathes. It's just terrible the toll what ever it is took on his body before killing him.

Daemon helping Viserys well and truly got me emotional, such a unbelievably powerful scene. Despite their differences he had Viserys' back in that moment and it was beautiful to see, Daemon always thought Viserys was weak and this one scene proved him very wrong.

Viserys is being given milk of the poppy (opium) which is the only painkiller they have. Unfortunately it has side effects including mass hallucinations. In this case I think Alicent is giving it to him in good conscience because he is in so much pain. I'm really starting to believe in the whole Maester conspiracy though because they are holding back something.

Viserys' walk to the throne is so emotional because it shows how much he loves his daughter. This is one of the reasons why Alicent has been jealous of Rhaenyra. Otto never showed this type of fatherly love to her. Alicent's whole life has been about duty...and wasn't it GoT that said "duty is the death of love"...I think that sums up the Hightowers/ Alicent as a character. For the sake of duty Alicent never experienced true love, not in her family, not in her marriage and that made her bitter as well as passing that on to her children. Rhaenyra on the other hand has not followed the rules but she was able to experience life in a fuller way than Alicent. She still faces stress and opposition for her choices, but I don't see her as bitter person. In this world, Alicent didn't have much of a choice and it's sad that even as Queen she is essentially quite powerless, but I do think you can only blame others for so long. Alicent is imprisoned by rules and the approval of others but she has allowed herself to stay in this position. I do sympathise with Alicent to a degree but she has a very rigid mindset and that prevents her from thinking things through (eg: Larys and now starting a war over a "misunderstanding"). Anyway, episode 9 touches on this point as well so I can't wait for your reaction to that :)

I will say generally I quite liked all of season 1 of HOT D. With the exception of episode 8 and 9, each episode was a solid B to B+ ep. But oh boy this episode was the best of them and rose way above even the general quality of the rest. I think Visery’s Walk and the Last Dinner are peak television. Paddy delivered a powerhouse and hopefully long-remembered performance all season all culminating here. This is an A to A+ episode. Episode 9 was an outlier for me as well but in the other direction. Thought it was a C. But I digress. Great reaction as usual, love your vids and RIP Viserys

Game of Thrones always somehow hit the feels, but more in a tense or shocking way. This episode actually made me cry for Viserys. He's just too good for this world. Also Daemon "crowning" him was totally improvised to my knowledge. Paddy Considine lost the crown and they just went with it, creating one of the best scenes of the whole show.
