I didnt know about this part of the story. Spoilers It now makes more sense why corlys doesn't care about blood. That part of his life is secured. Now it's about history for him. He may not have been the most traditional person and broke taboos, but he had the same wants as other lords. He just didn't care for it happening the "proper" way. I can respect that.

They aged down Corlys by about twenty years, his age never made much sense in the books anyway. In the books he was already like 45 when Laenor was born and then Alyn was born when he was like 60. Alyn being older and more experienced will be good for the story and character I think.

Yes in the books he should be around the same age as Jace. But the showrunners felt that it would be better if his father is Corlys rather than Laenor like in the books, so they aged both him and Addam up.

They aged up both Addam and Alyn. Their actors are very similar in age to the actor who played Laenor. The showrunners clearly made that choice on purpose, because they are going with the (correct) theory that Addam and Alyn are Corlys's sons, not Laenor's

After today's episode, this scene feels a bit more impactful. Especially in Adam's case. When Alyn mentioned Adam and his position, Corlys seemed shocked. And ashamed about how he knows nothing about him in particular. At least from our pov and maybe he kept tabs on them but I didn't get that from this scene.

How the show continues to buther their characters. Alyn, the bastard of Corlys and a coming dragon rider, looks just as much as a Valarion as Joffrey did a Baratheon

Velaryon. There's nothing in the source material text that states the Velaryons were white-skinned. Black people can be pale too. Also, there's no indication that any Velaryons are dark-skinned prior to Corlys. It's possible that he gets his dark skin from his maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother. And even without all that, changing the skin colour of a character isn't butchering them. It's content that matters, not colour. Race lifting the Targaryens would have been bad. But only because we've already seen them light-skinned in Game of Thrones.

The source material describes Velaryons as pale skinned and silver hair im afraid. Its a staple feature of Valeryon identity..... HOWEVER, the reason why im ok with this change is because if they all had these features, we wouldn't know who is who. Martin was ok with the change becauze when he first wrote the story, he wanted to make valaryons dark skinned. The directors said thats why they made the change.@rtozier2011
