Best reaction to this episode. I don’t think she ever had a thought of going back. To me what Daemon said to her stuck with her. “You could have extinguished them all”. She felt the guilt and accepted her fate. Man that look back that Meleys gave to her was so sad. Kinda like “mama I’m sorry. I did my best”. And she strapped herself onto Meleys at that one part basically telling her dragon if u die I’m dying with you. This episode was so good.

Nah I don't think what daemon said got to her. if she fled the greens would've spread news that they let rooks rest be sacked and fled the battle which would rally more houses to the greens side and the realm would have lost respect for rhaenyra and the blacks. If rooks rest seen rhaenys flee they'd have surrendered and joined the greens

Rhaenys plan was to win the battle she didnt expect both dragons to be there n the reason y Rhaenys didn’t retreat because the reward was well worth the risk. I think Rheanys knew if she left it would let Rheynera’s side feel if they are losing then their dragon riders would retreat and not support them. She went out fighting trying to damage a major problem knowing it was suicide. There was no other dragon/dragon rider with experience to go up against Vhagar

Me too. I've been told in the books that Sunfyre and Aegon have a very close loving bond someone even said it seemed like the only being that Aegon felt truly loved by was Sunfyre. And it's said he was the most beautiful of the dragons so it's really sad to see him go. I know Aegon is a horrible person he attacks women & supports child violence in the fighting pits but the show does a really good job of humanizing, you see why he is the way he is it doesn't excuse anything but you can understand it.

Here's a simple take on Rhaenys' decisions: She wasn't going to retreat and return with a loss. She wanted to make a statement for their side. Plus, how much fight did she really have left in her for this war? She was tired of all of this: losing her children, her relatives, being passed over for the Throne, clearly some past shame in her relationship, constantly watching her people in conflict, politics, patriarchy, etc., etc. She wanted to go out honorably standing up to a bad ass man! She went out like she lived: like a G!

We need to give some credit to Rhaenys and Meleys for being able to make old Vhagar fall to the ground😮 they were truly warrior queens. She had to stay and fight until the end, otherwise every allie would know that Rhaenyra didn't helped them and they wouldn't be supporting her anymore. There was no other choice. She had to fight until death.

Aegon's armor & helmet he's wearing was from Old Valyria. It belong to Aegon the Conqueror. The whole thing is Valyrian steel. Also Aegon's sword named "Blackfyre" was the Conqueror's as well

In the books, it was shown that meleys couldve taken out Sunfyre and Vhagar individually but together was too much to handle. I dont like that they keep trying to make Vhagar stealthy when its the biggest dragon of the time. That was bad writing.

No, the issue is that she is now the queen dowager. Her husband is dead. She cannot turn up pregnant after her husband has died. The first question will be who is the daddy? It is not good for her to be sleeping with and getting impregnated by the Lord commander/ hand of the king.

If Viserys had not been so terribly ill and physically weak in the months and perhaps years before his death, Alicent could indeed have turned up pregnant; it's only been a few weeks or a month or two after his death (although the child would not have resembled him). But given Viserys' physical condition, no one would believe he could have fathered Alicent's child.

To me, Rhaenys chose to turn back because she needed to do her part to end the war ASAP. Up until now, she had been warning about how devastating a war between dragons would be, and she was constantly encouraging Rhaenyra to push for peace. Once it became clear that peace wasn't possible and she went to Rooks Rest to face Cole, there was a moment when Rhaenys was looking down at the scorched battlefield and devastation, and I think that's when she decided she'd do her best to kill (or at least severly injure) Vhagar, and "bring an end to this conflict" as soon as possible even if it meant dying - because prolonging it would be catastrophic to Westoros. RIP Queen & Meleys 🙏🏾

rhaeneys attacked in the hopes of injuring vagar in hopes another black dragon can finish her off. (Meleys is one of the oldest and strongest dragons) or kill her or maybe kill aemond so vhagar would be riderless and out of the picture, she is more experienced at the end of the day Meleys was too injured to have made it very far & Rhaenys would have never abandoned Meleys even for the sake of her own safety. That last look they gave before turning back to fight Vhaegar again was a mutual acknowledgement they were going down together. Makes that whole moment that much more heartbreaking

I thought the same Aemond wanted to kill his brother he didn't turn to go after Rhanys but Rhanys had a mission and she was a warrior she wouldn't/couldn't tuck tail and leave. What y’all have to realize is that rainys didn’t have an option if she tried to leave I’ll aiming to go to done is chase her down to dragon stone which is just across the water and he would a torch dragon stone so she had to do her best to do as much damage to the dragons as she could and she did do killer damage to Sunfire and some decent damage to the old girl so it is what it is but she didn’t wanna die. She just knew that it was her job to do as much damage as possible and not bring the fight back to Dragon stone where people would’ve got hit with no warning by vayger they.

Rhaenys HAD to be the one to start it….she had pushed the blacks back so much they had to get some leveling ground. She was advising Rhaenyra I’m sure she felt some responsibility. But now BECAUSE of her death and the manner of it she has protected the Rook. This in turn will help to get their other allies and Daemon’s heads out of their asses.

Alicent nursing a terminated pregnancy while saying how her husband died only weeks ago is nasty work. I think she was looking for written proof of the song of ice & fire. Niiiice Reaction, thank you! In my opinion, Vhagar is not OP. Firstly, her rider Aemond is relatively inexperienced and impulsive. Vhagar has her problems with this, as she can only rely on him to a limited extent. She is old and proud; if she doesn't want something, she doesn't want it. Aemond can't control her then. Her prime is long gone. When she's not needed, she lies around and sleeps. Every flight and every fight exhausts her enormously. She is also very slow in the air and takes a long time to turn. Attacking Vhagar head-on means certain death, but if you stay behind her, she can hardly do anything. She was seriously injured by Meleys (stomach and chest torn open). As with humans, wounds are difficult to heal in old age. Presumably the wounds will affect her considerably from now on.

Battle of Rooks Rest was meant to end like that and changed everything. One deviation tho was that the plan was two dragons against one but they made it like Aegon and Daemon had a beef so basically he attacked his brother. Also this episode showed that Aegon is basically illiterate when it comes to High Valerian. Rheanys was a warrior through and through and she died like one.

People would lose heart to fight in Rhaenyra's name. It would've done more damage then good, Rhenys is a smart woman she takes the long game into account. Even though the battle was lost she fought to the very end for her queen which shows the power of her convictions that this is the rightful heir to the throne.
