Remember the inventory of dragons that Daemon gave in the Season 1 finale: he said there are three “wild dragons” who grew to adulthood without being claimed by riders, so they’re basically mustangs. It’s really hard to claim a wild horse that’s had no training to take a rider. They do give the explanation in this episode that he must be ranging farther north for flocks in the Vale because the area around Blackwater Bay is running out of sheep, due to tithing them for the other dragons.

There are three wild dragons: Greyghost, the Cannibal, and Sheepstealer. You can guess which one might be in the Vale...

11:53 a few minutes ago Corlys says that rhaena tried to claim seasmoke already and it didn’t work, same with the other two. and daemon said last season that their are wild dragons.

We're led to believe that Laenor died around ep2 when Seasmoke was seeing restless flying and calling for people on beaches and stuff. Rhaenyra tought the same since she asked for this attempt and knew Laenor was sailing east to go on "adventures". Tonight we shall have more dragons and potential riders giving new bonds a shot.

I didn't get the impression he died. Seasmoke was abandoned for 6 years, and said fuck it I'll get a new one. Laenor's half brother was probably the next best thing. I know what the books say, but I don't know why they'd change Laenor's story like that just for him to die off screen anyway. I think they're showing a unique circumstance where a dragon bonds with a new rider and claims the rider instead of the rider claiming the dragon.

Agree about Daemon being the comic relief. I feel that it's not really being discussed at how funny the Harrenhal arc has been.

The man Rhaenrya slapped is Lord Celtigar. His family is also from Old Valerya. Just not dragon riders.

Definitely read the books. I can't speak to Fire & Blood because I decided to hold off on that until HotD is over, but for the ASOIAF series, it's great to have all the extra insight into characters and the world is so much fuller. There are definitely things the show did better, but there's plenty of great book-only stuff

Remember when people were mad Aemond "stole" Vhagar? If Vhagar wanted to, she could have killed him...
@havok62803 ай бұрын
In the book, Addam and Alyn are much younger. Their mother claims Laenor is their father. Also, Otto came up with the Triarchy plan, not Aemond, in the book.

I would not rewatch GoT. Joffrey spoils at major plot point for HotD...

Ooooh good call

This is why I didn’t like the show's decision not to kill Laenor. Either he died offscreen or somehow dragon bonds don't matter...

Do what you wish, and I'm sure many, if not most, would disagree, but don't read the books. You will just be stuck waiting for decades wondering where things go. But do you.
