Honestly I don't see how he was even chosen, there was nothing spectacular around him being chosen. Maybe the dragon just wanted a younger rider, as there may be some energy transfer in the pairing, and the old dragon could feel youth again. Maybe it wanted a change of scenery after losing its rider, knowing it would be "stationed" elsewhere if it chose that rider. Overall, it seemed that more was going on than just worthiness. And it's also clear he never really did master control of the dragon, as the final episode shows. Although maybe the dragon knew he had taken his eye earlier and some of that wish for revenge seeped through from him to the dragon, and dragons of course play for keeps, they're merciless. The dragon might have done that explicitly to force his rider to follow through with revenge, no turning back. After all, I expect a dragon to be able to sense unfinished business like that, which would probably affect how the dragon feels about their rider, so the dragon wanted to clear that unfinished business up, even if he really didn't want the dragon to do that.

Vhagar is definitely a cut above the rest. Vermithor, Caraxes, and Seasmoke are the only other Dragons around who have been to war, and of course, none of them have been at it as long and often as Vhagar. All her riders have a similar bold, confident demeanor about them as well. From Queen Visenya, to Baelon the Brave, to Laena, to Aemond. She has a knack for bonding with proud dragonriders

I noticed this too. But what intrigues me is what Vhagar would have done if he didn't live up to her expectations, even before climbing and mounting her. If she would have killed him or just roared at him for the sake of scaring him off. That kind of unpredictability had me on edge for this entire scene. I kept thinking of every possibility for what could happen whether Vhagar was disappointed in him or not.

@n1ghtgr1ffen69 Yeah, she was trying to scare him off at first, with the flaming mouth tactic, but she was then impressed with his boldness as he climbed onto her saddle, and the bonding process as they flew together and synced up mentally is one of the coolest things they've shown on screen The first time we truly see a bond like this tbh, outside of Dany and Drogon sorta having a similar moment of meeting up and flying away (but it's not the same since Dany and Drogon bonded from the moment he hatched)

Viserys is a shitty father and totally biased. He can hate Otto as much as he wants for sending his daughter to lure him but he was no saint either. He may hate Alicent too but his coldness towards his own trueborn children from Alicent is really an annoying thing. What wrong the children did to him that he always ignored them and pampered Rhaenyra's children? Even when Aemond lost an eye he didn’t even rebuke Luke. Luke got away that easily even after harming king's son. This type of partiality will break any child's heart. If he didn’t want children from Alicent, he could feed her moon tea everyday!

The line-up was totally crazy. They were all crazy, reckless and brave. Aemon (Caraxes) and Baelon (Vhagar ) who hit Balerion in the nose lol with his wife Alyssa (Meleys). Then the next generation Viserys (calm but still bonded with Balerion and was his most gentle bond) and ofcourse the infamous rogue Daemon (Caraxes). Daemon marries another ballsy dragonrider Laena (Vhagar). Then the final generation of dragon riders, Aegon (Sunfyre, the most loyal and the only dragon the survive multiple dragon battles), Aemond (Vhagar again), Halaena (Dreamfyre) and lastly Rhaenyra (Syrax, she's the youngest Targaryen to mount on her dragon and fly at the age of 7). This whole generation was awesome. Dance of the dragons is an absolute tragedy

@@tabakhiin ​ I think the complaint is a bit less about making “accurate” lighting for the scene and more about making it clear and bright enough for the viewers to actually be able to see what’s going on. You’re right that there wouldn’t be any light at night, but from a TV show perspective where people are going to be watching it at home and want to be able to see it clearly I don’t think it really makes sense the way they made the original scene so washed-out looking, especially such an important one. I think this edit totally elevates the scene and gives it so much more depth just because we can actually see all the details now!

Vhagar is older here than Balerion was at the time of the Conquest, by about 60/70ish years. If we got a Aegons Conquest show Balerion would be smaller than this.

Aemond had every right to attempt to claim Vhagar. It’s not like they forcefully forbade Rhaena from bounding with Vhagar she could’ve she had plenty of time between her mother’s death and this scene. She didn’t have the courage to and it’s very arrogant to expect that the largest and oldest dragon in the world belongs to you as inheritance and that no one is allowed to attempt to bond with her until your ready to finally try. Dragons in general are a rare commodity and especially Vhagar its first come first serve it’s something that is earned not given. Team Black all the way but those four kids were in the wrong for believing Aemond was guilty of a wrong doing

Hmmm hard to say, the teeth some seem to be as lined up as Tyrannosaurus teeth where…well Mean they were in fact crooked due to often losing some and growing others back unevenly. But with vhagar and other larger dragons they almost seem displaced in the gums like different rows of teeth

To me she wasn't just giving in to his courage, she insisted that he claimed her when she was awake and watching him, not sneak on the saddle like a thief in the night, too afraid to make his claim when she's awake. Only then he earned the right to ride her.
