All this happened over a simple misunderstanding that viserys thought alicent was rhaenyra at the time of his death. With that said whether viserys made this mistake or not, Otto "scheming" Hightower would always try to convince the realm that his grandson should sit the iron throne.

Team Green! No Strong Bastards on the IT! Remember when Robert Baratheon declared Ned the Protector of The Realm but didn’t seem to matter once he was dead. A king cannot enforce his decisions when he’s in the grave. And Westeros is a culture based on primogeniture. Many lords have older sisters that would usurp their seats of power if primogeniture was thrown out the window in favor of oldest child inherits, period. Jaeherys, the best king ever in Westeros, knew this. Which is why he called the Great Council of 101. He knew once he was dead he wouldn’t have the power to enforce his decision so he allowed the great lords and ladies of the realm to decide and they chose Viserys over Rhaenys bc he was male. And it wasn’t even close. I wanna say it was like 90% chose Viserys, could be off on that exact number but it was definitely an undeniable majority.

Green. Team Black is delusional. Doesn't matter that the king named her as heir. By the laws of that time Aegon is considered the true heir. The small folk, lords and kingdoms did not support Rhaenyra's claim and they would have rebelled against her and considered her sons bastards. Daemond is not in love with her and did not care for her children. Aemond did him a favor. He would have taken them out himself eventually. He wanted his son on the throne. He is devious af, not a kind hearted knight at all.

Which included everyone who is now team green! They are all oathbreakers, and have usurped the throne as well as keeping the news of the kings death from Raenyra, so she will stay at Dragon Stone which gives them time to rush Aegon into being king... Even though he didn't WANT to be king. But one small taste of power and he's ready to kill his sister - the rightful heir - and all her family.

I support the blacks because Aegon as a ruler and a person is unfit to rule and never wanted to at first until his first taste of power, people who see the power but not the responsibility are not good rulers as history has always proven, and does not know the dream of Aegon the conqueror or the history of his house properly.. Rhaenyra was her father's chosen heir, knew the dream of Aegon and the significance of the dragon one dagger also she is a compassionate person who loves her children and never sought to turn them against anyone unlike Alicent and Otto and raised them to be decent and fair men. She is the fitter person to rule, regardless of her sex as she always knew the throne was a heavy responsibility not just wealth and power..Viserys saw his children with clearer eyes than Alicent did and he saw Aegon and even Aemond as unfit to rule so he upheld his decision to have Rhaenyra rule after him. Likely he was always suspicious of the ambition of house Hightower as well and wanted none of their blood on the throne, he would've seen Alicents venom against his daughter and her turning his other children against his eldest child with relish.. So for those reasons I am team black. Still, such a sad legacy for Viserys who was a competent and just ruler to have the family he loved so much turn his realm into a pyre.
