We did see Alicent's brother briefly in the very first episode of season 1 - Daemon beat him in the joust (he deliberately chose him as his opponent to spite Otto). He had his helmet on throughout that whole thing though, probably because they hadn't chosen an actor yet.

Alicent is saying it's too late because the war has already left the station with no hopes of reversal. Let's think critically. So alicent goes to aegon and says oopsie I misread interpreted my late husband's last words to me. It turns out you are the illegitimate king, after all. Step down. Do you think Aegon is going to say OK, mother? Not this Aegon who has lost a son and has grown to like power.

Alicents brother was only in one scene in episode 1 at the tournament hes the one that dameon tripped his horse but this is the first time we see his face

Alicent's brother was in the very first episode. He jousts against Daemon and loses when Daemon stabs Gawain's horse.

The root of these writing issues is the show trying to make the Greens more sympathetic, I suspect because the showrunners think if they make it more even-handed it will increase the tragedy. That, and to include more shocking twists and moments, like Rhaenys at the Dragonpit, which mostly just confuse the story logic even more.

I gave this show a second shot after reading about the big dragon fight in the latest ep. Also that all white outfit with the red hair your pretty much all I looked at during this entire video.
