Another scene I loved was the one with Larys and Aegon. Even in the context of Larys essentially cynically changing horses from Aemond to Aegon out of necessity now that Aemond passed over him for Hand in such belittling fashion, taking advantage of Aegon devastated and vulnerable, without agency and desperate for help, Larys still gives us a sincere window into his psyche, his pain, his ghosts, and what is driving him, and approaching Aegon with empathy and offering the benefit of his experience with how the world treats "cripples, bastards, and broken things". The dramatic writing in this episode is next level.

Something about the scene between Alicent and her brother really got to me. It felt like there was so much subtext in their words between them. Like if Gwayne was speaking in a language you couldn't understand, you'd think he was saying cruel things to her, but his words were actually kind and considerate. And it all lands on this moment where they touch hands and part ways. It's such a small character moment, but it was one of the more fascinating scenes in the show so far.

It's interesting how Daemon's visions/dreams changed after he spoke with Alys and accepted her advice. First vision he had this episode - stuck in the throne room, after being banished by Viserys for mocking the death of his child. The second vision, after the talk with Alys, he comforts his brother, finally doing what he couldn't do in the past. It's also curious how he woke from the second dream much more naturally, not as distressed as usual. After he was informed that his plan is slowly coming together, him starting to cry could be either because he finally got to comfort his brother in the dream or because he finally achieved some victory, as temporary as it may be.

Throughout the episode, Mysaria manipulated Rhaenyra like it was nobody's business. Constant compliments, trauma bonding, coded talking in the presence of others but not once did she suggest to Rhaenyra that Jace should be kept in the loop, their plans shared with him. He obviously supports his mother no matter what and it clearly bothered him that they did not share the food boats plan.

What a stark difference between the council meeting ruled by Aemond and those ruled by Aegon. Aemond pretty much put everyone in their place, imposed his will upon them and he topped that all off by "firing" Alicent from the council.

Aemond antagonizing Larys instead of using him was such a rookie mistake. His hatred towards slimy characters like Larys clearly works against him. That monologue by Larys, in Aegon's presence, was exceptional. It'll be really interesting to see where this renewed collab between the two will lead.

@@Alexszander So what it happened in the book. There where no indication in the show that they where romantically interested in each other. It came out of nowhere.
@Alexszander5 ай бұрын
@@Labben91 In the book, Rhaenyra is alluded to have been intimate with Laena Velaryon, Daemon's first wife. Yea, in the series, in this episode, they did an incredibly poor job of showing the growing relationship between Rhaenyra and Mysaria. 2 minutes of trauma dumping and some compliments along this episode is not really enough to warrant all that but we can deduct they grew closer together since Mysaria chose to stay behind and counsel Rhaenyra. That, combined with the fact that Rhaenyra feels completely isolated, with no one to turn to, not even her own son.

It's getting tiring to watching Daemon's dreams and seeing Rhaenyra complaining and getting angry at her black council.
@Alexszander5 ай бұрын
That's the downside of stretching the book to cover 4 seasons, which means 40 episodes. The book equivalent of this season is covered in a couple of pages tops. Daemon in Harrelhall playing Ghostbusters and Rhaenyra dealing with "we're mysogynistic but not upfront" is not covered in the book at all, they're just absent.
