The spent an entire season beautifully and effectively building up Alicent as a villain, and then at the last second chickened out and tried to redeem her. This is the same problem that happened in GOT, the show writers are too afraid that if they don't bend over backwards to redeem certain characters then the audience will hate them. It is this type of thinking that led to Cersei, Tyrion, and Tywin (as well as many, many other characters) being whitewashed in the show

I am 100% team black and my full support for Queen Rhaenyra. This Dance of Dragons will be true carnage without mercy. But the moment I most look forward to seeing is the Winter Wolves: "We come to die for the dragon queen."
