This is a great cover of a song that's been around for decades (and which has been known in one format or another for over a century), but Heavy Young Heathens seem to think they have a monopoly on it, because they keep suing people for using it, even though its origins are basically public domain. It would be hilarious if Eric Burdon and any other surviving members of the Animals wound up suing Heavy Young Heathens for using much of their arrangement for the music and lyrics. ;-)

With Knierim and Frazier skating to this song, Heavy Young Heathens will probably profit even more. It's a shame they would sue over a song that wasn't originally their song anyway.😕 If anything, Heavy Young Heathens should be honored to have this version played on the Olympic world stage.

@@tmage23 , You completely missed the point. The version they did record was played at the Olympics. It was broadcast worldwide. People who had never heard their version, (or even of them) were made aware of their version of the song. In the past, there have been a number of songs brought back by cover versions, (or reimagined versions) by major telecasts. These telecasts made tons of money for the band through exposure of the version, which was downloaded, and through other songs by the group, that in all probability wouldn't gave gotten exposure. Free exposure at the Olympics is major advertising that is free. It's a good thing. The tie-in to the movie brings it some additional exposure as well, which happens to intrigue people maybe to watch it. How many millions who would have watched later clips, won't hear their version, now that it's been removed?

@@RedStallion2000 it's called Fair Use Doctrine. They are amatuer skaters that didn't tell anybody at NBC or the Olympics about the song they would be using until the moment arrived. This song has been around for a very long time, and for them to make a version without paying royalties or asking permission, to turn around and sue somebody for not asking permission, doing far less to warrant legal action, is the height of hypocrisy.

Pathetic to try and sue over a song that isn't yours in the first place. If anything The Animals should be the ones upset and I bet they are proud to hear team USA use it
