Hey! This week we have a classic for you all - "House Of The Rising Sun." It's actually a traditional tune but I'm going to show you how to play The Animals' version of it, since that's probably the most well-known.
► House of The Rising Sun Guitar TAB pdf available on my Patreon page:
/ 33755840
► Grab your copy of my FREE E-BOOK!
goodguitarist....
► Need help with the basic chords and strumming? My beginner guitar course will help you build a solid foundation one step at a time:
goodguitarist....
The chords are pretty simple: Am, C, D, F, E. The progression is simple too, and we strum through it slowly, counting to 4 (even though the song is in 6/8... it's just simpler this way) and then go on to show you the rhythm pattern.
The rhythm is all picking. You can do it with a pick or your thumb and fingers, and it seems very simple - just ascend and descend, plucking each string - but watch out for that rhythm! We count through it and break it down into little bits so you can work it out slowly and along to the beat.
After that, we play through both sections together so you can get a feel for the whole tune and that's that!
I hope you enjoy the tune and I'll see you next week!
James

1:19 I find that you are very good at explaining what we need to do get the most out of our lessons . When I was young I took guitar lesson but only picked the melody of a song we never were told how to hold the guitar the pick or how to keep the rhythm constant. But that was over 40 years ago . Guitar science has gone a long way thanks to people like you . Once I master my practice and can do the basics I will definitely be signing up for your lessons .

Many many fine instructors on youtube, but this gentleman is THE best for beginers. Patient, friendly, doesn't try to skip past the mundane. If you take yourb time too and work hard at some of the basics he teaches so well, you'll soon be ready to gtrad. to some of the more tricky lessons of other teachers where youre expected to know these things already in order to keep up with the instruction!

I signed up and paid for James’s courses and have looked into other ones as well, trying them and ultimately I’ve decided after one year of his classes or I should say his selection of classes or courses… They are the best and for the price of $199 or so it’s incredible deal thank you very much James! Although I study privately one hour each week with a guitarist I go back each day and go over whatever is appropriate in conjunction with my private instructor and it’s a win-win for me! Good luck with your selection there’s plenty of them out there to choose from but like I said after a year of looking and trying out various methods his is the most comprehensive and well thought out program I have experience.

That was a highly pleasant and productive tutorial on the House of The Rising. The presentation was excellent and it's so refreshing not to have some shout "hi you guys" and be all zap and pow. I am a born again bassist and i am semi-tone deaf and learn via chord charts but lyric sheets etc have chords all over the shop and I struggle to know when the chord thus bass changes. Dude, I am so glad to see someone else hold their pick with only the thumb and pointer finger curled. For some reason, I naturally let my other three fingers just hang there like you do. I have been forcefully curling all of them because that is what I am being taught. But maybe I don't have to.

I've been subscribed for a minute now and your tutorials are really awesome and super easy to understand. I'd like to see maybe a more complex or more progressively oriented songs. A really nice recommendation would be Marigold by Periphery. The intro riff isn't super difficult, but I definitely think it would fit in with your tutorial style. Thank you for the great stuff!

My advice to anyone having trouble with the timing or just the general chord shapes, just skip the D string, and for the D and F chords just strum it once. It sounds perfectly fine this way.
