This was the song that made me realize the power of live music and my love for it. I was like 5-6 years old and my family had just moved into our new house. One night we were all talking and hanging out before bed in what would become our family room, we were just sitting around on what we had set up, there was stuff everywhere. At some point my dad opened up this guitar case which was sat next to the couch on his side on the floor. It was a 1950 Gibson L5. I didn’t know anything about anything. But when he picked that up he started playing this song and the impact that experience had on me totally changed my life. He may have played in front of me before that but for me that was my first memory of him doing that and it was incredible. I went on to play drums he bought me my first set at 9yrs old. I’m 39 now and picked up guitar about 5 years ago. He gave me that Gibson a couple years ago. Almost brings tears to my eyes when I think about it. My uncle used to own a venue called the Skyline Lounge. He still plays now and then in his band Lyle Grobe & The Rhythm Ramblers. I only wish I was into guitar when I was young it would’ve been great to have something like that to bond over.

I think in the end you guys bonded over music in general. That is plenty to be happy about :) He bought you your first drum set because he wanted you to have the tools to succeed in that. Hope you guys have jammed before!!
