Is the stone creature not just referring to Jon Connington? His sigil is a griffin, and he has greyscale which turns flesh into stone. Thus, he is a stoney flying creature. Spewing shadowfire could simply mean supporting the blackfyres, which JonCon does, unknowingly.
@fischbrotchen7
@fischbrotchen7 Жыл бұрын
I always thought the fire foreshadowed him setting kingslanding ablaze in an event similar to Daenerys snapping in season 8. It would make sense for Jon Connington, who is losing his mind due to his illness, and also has an associated trauma from the Battle of the Bells and it has been suggested that he could simply have burned down Stoney Sept. Still believe this is going to happen, but the symbolism of shadowfire = blackfyre fits even better.

It's not a bad theory, but the pantomime dragon already seems to represent fAegon and his faction. JonCon is part of this farce (even though he doesn't know), so why would the Blackfyres appear twice in the same vision (the slayer of lies), if it is the same lie? These are supposed to show three different lies Dany will expose

My original thought was that the beast was referring to Euron, since the smoking tower reminded me of Melisandre’s vision where she said that hardest blow would land at a tower by the sea. You’ve convinced me that it was Jon though since my previous thoughts didn’t line up too well. Awesome video!

Jon is who I now think it is. But he is just one of many possibilities I presented in the video. I would encourage everyone to keep an open mind because this is a difficult mystery to attempt to solve and I'm not 100% positive its Jon. I think all of the things seen are threats to dany in some way as the cloth dragon is likely Aegon and Stannis is also someone who claims the throne is his. Damphair being sacrificed represents Euron etc.

Holdin out for the skagos theory lets goooo! I can see cannibalism being similar to blood magic in prolonging dragons’ lifespans who are after all creatures of fire and blood. Love the idea of Cannibal being this dormant creature in the Skagos mines responsible for the fires, whom they bring sacrifices to satiate, hence the rumors. And as for what could rouse him- dragonbinder. Probably not true but I want it to be lol, and it would bring a lot of intrigue to Rickon’s otherwise shaggydog story. Additionally, even if Cannibal did die. It’s possibly that he could be within range of the Other’s powers of necromancy… so there’s that.

Griffins do not breathe fire, but dying and desperate JonCon, regretting that he wasn't more Tywin-like, can be the one triggered by bells ringing and set King's Landing ablaze. The bells would be his trigger, after the Battle of the Bells and he really wants to put young Griff on the throne. And if he doesn't directly contribute to the fire, he could start an epidemic in KL that needs to be eradicated with a big fire.

The Great Stone Beast is a stone sphinx coming to life at Oldtown. Melisandre has hinted repeatedly that through blood sacrifice stone can be brought to life, and Sam is at Oldtown trying to determine the meaning of a phrase repeated by a senile Maester Aemon "the sphinx is the riddle not the riddler." Aemon relates this phrase to TPTWP somehow. What's more, it's important to consider that the House of the Undying is from Dany's perspective and Dany knows what dragons look like, but she at no point recognizes a sphinx.

is there a chance the cannibal would be a very different kind of dragon than we think? balerion is the best indication we have for the longevity of dragons, but when you only have one sample all you can do is speculate, and it seems like a determining factor for longevity is the dragon riders themselves, maybe balerion began fading when he was claimed by a weak ruler. it seems like most dragons either die with their riders or fade over time without one. what i’m thinking is, the cannibal could be a much more ancient dragon than we think, if he was the dragon of an ancient dragonrider of asshai, maybe even azor ahai himself, and he could be in a dormant state, looking pretty much like a giant statue on skagos, as azor ahai’s consciousness is in the weirwood network, in a kind of half-death, half-connection with the world. it could explain his intermittent presence in the world and animosity to other dragons, and would be a pretty amazing reveal as the consciousness of azor ahai reemerges as ice/fire wight jon or a possessed euron to awaken and claim him

In defense of the cannibal theory. Dragons seem to be one of those species that thrive in the wild and wither away in captivity. Drogon grew sluggish but if he was living in the wild he may have lived longer. So it is not crazy to think that cannibal is still alive and thriving from living a wild life. He probably would have to exercise, hunt, fly, and over all stay more active than the captive dragons. For all we know cannibal could be in the prime of his life.

@binnes117
@binnes117 5 ай бұрын
Here's my theory with the possible return of Cannibal- cannibal is.... A cannibal. It ate/eats other dragons. Dragons are known to be somewhat magical, so if cannibal is eating other dragons, perhaps it has absorbed some of that magic which has allowed it to survive for so long. Maybe it just eats it's young and prolongs it's own life even further, or maybe it accumulated enough absorbed magic to survive the extra 70 years (judging by Balereon's age when it died). Based on the theory that bran is fed Jojen 'paste' (the paste that tastes bloody, implying it's made out of Jojen, who is missing when bran eats the paste), which causes his powers to awaken, we could assume that consuming the flesh of another magical being imbues the eater with that being's own magic. That's my justification to the theory that cannibal will return (plus it would be sick as fuck)

The point is we shouldn't use the Targaryen Dragons to compare to Cannibal since there doesn't seem to be a connection. The only dragon known to have died of old age was Balerion and I don't think that means all dragons would die around the same age as him. Cannibal was likely the oldest dragon in Westeros but he was likely smaller than Vhagar despite being Older so there does appear to be differences.

I can't help thinking that bit was meant to be allegorical: Jon "Snow" Targaryan is theoretically a "dragon" sleeping at and arising from Winterfell, after all, in the round-about language of riddles and prophecies. Much like the Stone Dragon from Dany's dream sounds like it's running on the round-about language of riddles and prophecies more than it is a literal prediction of an actual stone dragon appearing. That said, the imagination is certainly fired by the picture of a literal stone dragon sleeping beneath Winterfell, to be raised up to fight for Jon and Dany against the Others... it's quite an irresistible idea!

The shadow fire is what gets me. I usually agree with the fandom about most of the common well known theories but a greyscale pandemic in Westeros is just insane. I have never, for a single second, thought that would happen. The greyscale is just to give Jon Connington a dire sense of urgency, nothing more, there will not be a greyscale plague in Westeros, that would be a ridiculous crysis to solve on top of a billion things we already have. I am not saying this because I think it would be a bad plot decision, I do think it would be bad but, for example, Tyrion being a Targaryen is something I hate with a passion but that unfortunately seems to be a given due to all the signs.

The thing is, not a single one of the characters is connected with multiple visions. That is, Jon is already connected with the vision of blue rose on the wall, therefore the stone beast vision cannot be something that is related to Jon. Think it this way, no more than one vision for any character or any events. I think that's a good catch about Stannis and stone dragons - I wouldn't have caught that on my own, but now that it's been pointed out, this is hardly the first time that Stannis has been linked to stone. In this setting, there certainly doesn't seem to be any one "right way" to do elemental magic - certainly we're pretty well aware of Fire and Ice, but the Children of the Forest and the Crannogmen seem skilled in "Green magic" with green dreams and great magical trees and such to work with... the Crannogmen also seem skilled in Water magic along with the Ironborn and others around the world, with hints of influences from or over strange aquatic monsters and Ironborn reborn as "Water Wights"... Melisandre seems to deal somewhat in Fire magic, but more precisely in the interplay between light and shadow, conjuring a shadow assassin to slay Stannis' enemies and deceiving those who look upon her will illusions of light to conceal her true age... Blood Magic makes its appearance over and over again. So why not Stone magic? What might "Stone Wights", for example, look like? Well, we probably don't need to think very hard about that, we already have some hints of that in the Stone Men, victims of the "Greyscale" disease, led by a Stone King. It's not hard, in light of those ice dragons and the TV show's icy Dragon Wight, to imagine a stone dragon, and Stannis imagines exactly that. Is it silly to suppose this is something of a "Stone Dream" for Stannis, his equivalent to Melisandra's visions from the fire, or Jojen's "Green Dreams", or whatever weird visions under the sea that Patchface utters to a deaf audience? And why wouldn't Stannis, an explicitly stone-cold and hard man for his supporters to love, be so intimately linked to "Stone Magic" in that way? Not only is Stannis a seemingly perfect embodiment of the element of stone in every way, but his very home is a cold, hard rock of a castle (a place literally called "Dragonstone", built/carved in stone to resemble great stone dragons), and even his daughter, Shireen, has been kissed by the Greyscale, a disease that should have turned her completely to stone, but yet she lives, with very little explanation for how that is possible when all the efforts of the Maesters and healers and magicians that Stannis and his wife could find to try to help seemed impotent to stop it. If ANYONE in the stories so far is capable of rousing a Stone Dragon - perhaps one turned to stone via Greyscale after exposure to the stuff in the land of the Stone Men near doomed Valyria, than surely it is Stannis the stone-hearted! But, I'm not so sure there's a literal stone dragon to be raised by Stannis - Dany's vision seems to be symbolic, allegorical, crafted in the veiled language of dreams, riddles, and prophecies... we might well imagine the Drum Tower of Dragonstone to be the birthplace of a "great stone beast" in the form of Stannis, breathing shadowy death upon the world thanks to Mellisandra's sinister powers!

Probably get this a lot, but how do you contextualize the parallels and rhymes in the books? How much weight do you give them in predicting? Nice summary of the stone beast. There are a couple other options, honestly far less likely. Part of the triplet you mentioned recently shook out something I think might be interesting. "..a rose...filled the air with sweetness." Mentioned in relation to the translation of a ship as the "stinking steward" I noticed something interesting. Jon is a Steward on the Wall. If that rose is symbolic of Jon then we have a perfumed rose that's also a steward. Thought?

I assumed it referred to Jon since he was born in northern dorne, making him a stoney dormishmen and since hes likely Targaryen, hes a stone dragon. Very literal I know 😂

The great stone beast is a lie that Daenerys must slay. The Great Stone Beast will probably be Azor Ahai, but it will be revealed that he is not a hero but for the contrary the villain to be defeated. And it will be related to the Stone Kings in Winterfell. Now, If you read closely the Grey King from the Iron Islands was said to be the killer of a weirwood. Then the King of the First Men was said to be turned into a Grey cadaver-like after he killed his brother who was a Green Men. Then the epidemic of greyscale was a curse done by Garin after the valyrians burned with his blood magic dragons all his people and destroyed all his beautiful cities that were protected by nature Green magic. What I am trying to say is that, everytime that something or someone is turned into grey/ stone is due to the profanation of Green magic by Blood magic done through human sacrifices. What makes me think that the Starks also practiced blood magic, what Bran saw in his last chapter was the ritual done to achieve something, that something was probably related to the creation of those Stone Kings. Guys, GRRM is totally fooling us. Those damn Kings are not there to protect anyone, they probably are the freaking enemy.😂😂

I think GRRM put a lot into the House of the Undying to firstly hide a massive clue about who is the offspring of R+l "Drink from the cup of ice, dri k from the cup of fire, Mother of Dragons", i mean come on GRRM. The blue flower in the wall isnt about this at all. Jons next chapter he learns about Bale the Bard and begins to sympathize with the wildlings and his relationship with Yigrette starts and it will eventually lead to his stabbing. Some of these visions will not come to pass, some will, and some already have, basically its GRRMs gardening style of writting.

Stone is the surname of bastards born in Dorne, and the hybrid offspring of dragons and direwolves would certainly be a beast..
