That previous work is not a good standard mate. If the budget is limited obviously just see what you can do with it, but my preference would be to rip it out and start again. Great work by you and the lads again

Yes although they prob had a budget in mind I think by asking us to complete I think they knew at that point that their budget was no longer possible. We managed to save decoration with the already plastered walls and likes of the consumer unit to use the existing rcbos (hoping to help save a bit of money) But the rest we basically had to rip out and start again. It was a quick job done originally with no finesse about it. It would had taken just as long to work out what they did. Thanks for watching. And thanks for the kind comments 👍

Yet again, I enjoyed this upload. The previous rewire looks like a DIY attempt..

at 10:58 why didnt you use that single box for an fuse spur to the washing machine? you would want a switch device for under the sink if it gets wet
@ARElectrics
@ARElectrics 4 жыл бұрын
We don't like to clutter the walls with switched spurs especially when the worktop space is tight when trying to keep the 150mm distance from the hob and at least a 300mm distance from the sink unit. It can also start to look messy with too many accessories along one wall. So we install single sockets for each appliance in the adjacent cupboard, it will be easily accessible and out the way where it doesn't ruin the look. We like to try and keep the installs simple. 🙂 Thank you for watching. You will hopefully see the progression with this job in future clips.

@@ARElectrics on the on site book they say 350mm from the cooker(its not applicable most times like in your case) If its a big kitchen and depending on the client you should put a fuse spur , but if its a small one a grid switch is the best choice . In the Regs I believe that they say IDEALLY should have a switching device in case of a faulty oven/ WM / DW to prevent a fire since those sockets are not easily accessible. Even though its ok to put them sockets on the ring I personally think they should always have a emergency switch to those appliance and its the best standard to do. Imagine theres a faulty dishwasher and you hear it buzzing/arching taking it out to disconnect it or tripping the breaker would take too long. Even in the NIEC say ideally should have a switch to it , its just good standards in my opinion. The price will be higher but its safer . I hope i didnt get too confusing since its almost 2 am and im drunk :P

@@cocoino2307 he said in the adjacent cupboard so still accessable by opening the door. I agree with trying to keep splashbacks clear of accessories. I put my fcu or even just switched sockets in the cupboard next to (adjacent) to the appliance. I once had a kitchen with a plinth heater, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and finally a boiler in a tall boy cupboard all in a row. This then went to a grid switch below the boiler hidden in the cupboard. There were windows above the work surface so even if I wanted to I couldn't put them above

What are you planning to do on the certificate? I wouldnt do one
@ARElectrics
@ARElectrics 4 жыл бұрын
It will be difficult to outline what we have done and what has previously been done precisely. We are inspecting each circuit thoroughly by also visually checking under floor boards and tracing most cabling. On the certificate we will just note that we have taken over a rewire and list the circuits that we have 100% installed ourselves.

Why do you guys up north use that metal capping ?
@ARElectrics
@ARElectrics 3 жыл бұрын
It is what the wholesale stock in our area and is the most common used capping here. I have been using it since 2004 its what i'm used to. Plus in my opinion its a better neater finish and you can feel metal in a wall much easier than plastic if comparing the 2.

@@ARElectrics they don't stock it down here for some reason I used it a few times from screwfix... not a fan of it but I've used plastic since 2004 I guess its what you used to. It looks a lot nicer than plastic though I must say
