You make it sound so easy !!! 30 years trying to figure it out on how to adjust per the lane condition, explained in just 13 minutes.

@6:30 You said board 40. LOL (39 boards on a lane. You know that!) Great content, from what I've seen so far. Keep up the good work. It's the passion like this, sharing the knowledge, that keeps this sport I love alive.

Wesley, this video was extremely well done. Super helpful to an up and coming bowler or a novice that just wants some insight. Your genuine and direct approach is greatly appreciated! I'd love to see you do a video on 2 finger layouts and the differences in ball reaction based solely on layout. Thanks for a really great instructional video

I bowled in a PBA experience league about 10 years ago, and it was one of the best things I did to improve. Not only do the sport patterns force you to be more precise, but they can also force you to play parts of the lane that you'd never play on a house shot. One of the toughest shots for me in the beginning was the PBA Shark pattern, which was an extremely flat, heavy, 44 foot pattern. It forced me to play an extremely tight angle near the center of the lane, which was awkward as hell.

It’s good to explain stuff like we are children, because if we are watching this video then we are looking for information. I am a novice and looking for advice on how to attack house shots and move when the pattern breaks down. Great video.

I think I've never play on a sport pattern before, need to stop by the RSC sometimes to try it out LOL. Good video bro! Keep it up.

Super great video, many thanks! Have bowled for five years but only now starting to realise the amount of thinking skills needed to adjust to different conditions. This video helps a lot! Cheers from a one handed lefty from Sweden.

Awesome video Wesley! Some other things I'd love to see you breakdown would be the bowling balls themselves maybe talk about and show the difference in reaction between symmetric vs asymmetric. Another topic would be your plan of attack on spare shooting...does it change when you are on house vs sport? Thanks for all the content!

One thing I noticed is that almost any ball on a house shot looks the same. The differences are seen when they are used on sport shots. We bowled 12 weeks on all Short, med, and long us open patterns and I averaged 12 pins lower than the previous summer when we used wtba, kegel, and PBA sport shots.

Hi Wes, i really enjoyed this video where you explain the intricacies of finding your "line". Since you were only using one ball it was more difficult to hit the sport shot. It makes us regular schmoes feel better to see how difficult it is to find the right line. I guess next time you can demo using multiple balls on the sport shot ? Best, LA Guy BTW, Happy Thanksgiving !

hai wesley ..i recently started showing interest in bowling and have been playing for about 3 months now..its not massive but i definitely see improvements..i figured maybe its time to get a custom ball for myself..i decided to focus on learning 2 handed bowling because its very hard for me to put spin on the ball with one hand where as with 2 hands it felt more natural..obviously my form is still bad but i feel like with the right ball i can improve much faster..can you do a video regarding suitable ball for 2 handers? something that a beginner/intermediate can handle..or maybe you can just share here is also fine..really enjoyed your lesson in this video btw ..keep it up!

Amazing video and channel. Do you mind using laymen’s term when talking about “working it a little more” and other things you do with your hands?
@cyworld27075 жыл бұрын
The sport shot pattern is what I run into during the house shot on open play burnt out lane play. I assume my traditional line, my toe is 2 or 3 boards right of the right most dots and I aim for the extreme right arrow near the gutter. I keep my hand relaxed and flat under the ball, push out to the right, do my crossover step and swing through the target. If it is oily, I slow my swing down and wait at the bottom to generate more lift. If dry, I walk faster, hold the ball lower and slide and push the ball forward and lift. I keep my target the same and just position my left toe to the right or left accordingly to adjust. I'm a one handed bowler.

I bowl like crap on house shots. I am an old school Full Roller. House Shots for me are hard! By nature my game requires me to play down and in from the outside, but on house shots it is far too dry to do that. And because I have zero tilt it is difficult for me to push a ball to the outside and get it to turn and come back, it tends to flatten out and not turn or when it comes back it hits weakly. I have low revs (145 rpms) and slow speed (13mph launch). When I bowl on Sport Shots however, it is such a relief because now I can play nice and straight from the outside on virtually any pattern and have great success.

Would going to a different house not show the differences. Because lanes are different
@WesleyLow5 жыл бұрын
Yes that is true. You can bowl in different centers and on the same pattern but it can play differently as well.
@andrewchandler91973 жыл бұрын
Was cool, nice job at the players. However there is a small flaw. Just nitpicking, but there are some guys that find house harder. I'm one of them. Lol the fresh on house isn't bad but gets nasty on the burn. At least it does for me. Where as on sorry shots I run into less wet dry.

All these people with 225-235 league average think there good till they see heavy oil then they never wanna play on sports cause it's too hard there used to hooking the whole lane and not aiming just let r rip lol.. i bowled against alot of league bowlers way better then me bowl in a sport league and couldnt even average 200 they were around the same as me 170-180 so they are way harder.
@chrisfentress134 жыл бұрын
Honestly, more people can average close to the same if bowling alleys got rid of house shot and everyone bowled on sport shots. My average on a house shot last year was 160. I got it up to about 212 now. I practiced 60-80 games a week last year to get better. My average on a sport shot is 160. I can't be good at something i never practice on. They only put out sport shots once a week.

Michael Heaton mental game bro, every league morning I tell myself to double down and I don’t shoot below 620 for 3 games anymore. Just staying up
@MrThinkImPossible5 жыл бұрын
A big part of bowling to be honest are spares. Many people just want to strike all day and miss out on the spare game. And like Matthew stated the mental game is real. So what can happen is you throw a great pocket shot. Leave a flat or stone whatever and then miss the spare. That is a great way to kill your game. Physically & mentally!
