This tour is a really instructive example of why we shouldn't fear colour, mad ideas or just doing the damn thing because we feel like it. If it doesn't work you can always paint over it and go again. The variation, imagination and adaptability of this home are so inspiring; the colour choices are surprising and sophisticated (the sea green of that kitchen, the turtle green of the bedroom, that amazing yellow cabinet/table in the hallway: I am breathless); and above all it's just really fun without being at all cutesy.

I love this house, her energy and talent! I also love that she's real...she's on a budget like most of us. Some of the houses and owners are pretentious... unlimited cash flow and name-dropping designers. This woman IS the designer and she is AWESOME!

Oh my god that dresser is stunning!!! I love the symmetrical grain. That's such exquisite carpentry and craftsmanship. Who the hell would paint such a beautiful piece?! Some people are so tacky and tasteless. Glad she was able to restore the piece back to it's original glory. Well done!

At 64 I've been a DIYer way before it was cool. People thought I was crazy and/or cheap. It's fun to source items and let your creativity soar with what you will do with the treasures you find. It's funny the colors we are drawn to. I personally liked the white kitchen cabinets and HATE green (long story) although I love greenery in plants. I liked the big bathroom that was a very light sage green previously. However, with my own biases out of the way as a creative myself I LOVE her style and she has brought love, flow, and warmth to this house. I also love the globe collection and Ms. Baaaarbara is fabulous.

This is wonderful. So many great projects and wonderful color. I love this home and her attitude about just doing DYI because it's not brain surgery. I interpret that as it's not a disaster if there is a "mistake" so you can just learn and keep going. She has a wonderful attitude.

I really appreciate the before and after photos. The stark contrast is such a good reminder that our current obsession with design concepts of safe, minimalist, neutral and ‘calming’, if not done correctly, can actually often instead lead to bland, flat and cold environments that feel lacking in soul and life-the very opposite of calm.
