I lived in this home for 24 years. The cave was the product of a bored teenager who rented a jackhammer and just dug it out for the heck of it. Truth. No bomb shelter. No brewery. It is not underground. Just a hole in the side of the hill. Sorry to disappoint. Liability. Liability. Liability.

There are a few sandstone caves in Rochester, MN in addition to the one you visited. There is of course the gigantic Quarry Hill Caves which are open for tours periodically. But also, there is a frequently filled in Cave behind Kellogg Middle School that is similar in size to the one in this video. I've heard there is also one behind the College here called Horse Thief Cave. Also nearby Barn Bluff in Red Wing has some caves but I dont believe those are of the Sandstone variety. Hit me up if you need a tour guide! Great Channel!

red and blue LEDs also support the growth of moss/algae's I use to use this idea for a planted tank filtration system. if they keep the leds on a lot it could possibly result in some small growth on the walls in places where its hard for the sun to reach

Agree that brewery cave would be unlikely. I did not see vents, and the geometry of moving beer kegs around in there is painful to contemplate. It also lacks any sign of a door frame, and if there is a road approaching it I can't see it. Now, off site brewery caves are peculiar, and like many others the Cannon Falls brewery was not a success. So maybe they did something stupid like store beer half way up a hillside. I've seen hotels with storage caves somewhat along these line.
@saveitforparts
@saveitforparts 2 жыл бұрын
I'd be surprised if the local brewery *didn't* have a cave somewhere, there seems to be enough sandstone around town. But as you said, this location and layout wouldn't have been a good choice for that.

Yeah, it looked like they made the ceiling too flat, or got too close to a shale layer up above. Any future tunnels should definitely have more of an arched ceiling and maybe go lower in the sandstone formation.

@saveitforparts
@saveitforparts 2 жыл бұрын
That could be, although you don't usually want to heat or dry out sandstone or it crumbles. It could have been the start of another cellar or tunnel that never got finished, or we thought maybe something to do with the pond. It would be a great place for a garden railroad, just carve out shelves, tunnels, buildings, etc straight from the hillside!
