Thank you! I can finally identify the bird that nested in our hanging plant. It's a Carolina Wren. She's so fast when she darts away, that it's been hard to see the whole of her! And, man, but she barks/chirps at me, chastising, when I go out front to water plants on the porch, and she has to fly into a nearby tree.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/mIWxiKFqmZaYqtE Hearing from my viewers and responding to their comments is a pleasure. Unfortunately I must forgo answering comments for awhile because the rotator cuff tear in my left arm is healing slowly, and I just learned that I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my right arm. I seem to have a body made out of cheap spare parts. So I won’t be answering comments before the beginning of August, if then. But if there’s something you’d like to tell me, please do so. I’ll be interested in what you have to say. It’s just that you’ll have to guess at what I would have answered. (I’ll be pasting this answer to every comment I get for the next few weeks.)

MY FAVORITE - The Carolina wrens that come to my back porch every day, DOZENS of times a day, are my faithful companions as I work at home. Along with the squirrels, they are my major distraction from work! LOL Thank you for your movie. I can tell you love nature. I thank God for COVID. It has slowed me down by allowing me to work with a beautiful view of God's creatures just outside my back door.

@@JoAlwoodBIRDSANDTHENSOME I believe that the time I spend watching them helps me focus better! They're songs are better than classical music! They lift my spirits, and bring me so much joy. I call them gifts from God, because they really and truly brighten my day. I know some people have posted things about how they annoy them, or build nests in their eaves and wake them up too early... I get it, but I'm afraid I tend to think, "Oh, well, they're all grown up, they're done being happy." Can't help that! :-)

@@bobbydavis2347 Your attitude about all of it makes sense to me, Bobby--well, except that I'm retired and doing what I love, so I'm happy even at 78. Are Gray Catbirds by any chance another favorite of yours? Or Brown Thrashers? I've done several movies about each of them.

Thanks Jo. We put up a bird house this spring and it was soon inhabited by a couple of wrens. It’s been great fun watching them furnish their new house and get ready for egg laying. Just a side note. I was sitting on my deck watching your video and the wren calls in your video prompted my wrens to get all excited and start calling back.

I love to watch them root through yard debris. Our neighbor had one that slept each night in the corrugated aluminum of a garden shed roof. No nest, he just wedged himself in snugly and seemed instantly asleep. Thanks.
@JoAlwoodBIRDSANDTHENSOME4 жыл бұрын
These are Carolina Wrens rather than house wrens you're describing, right? That would be fun to see one snuggle up in the grooves of an aluminum roof and go to sleep. They are so active and curious and fun to watch!

Yes, Carolina Wrens. It was a hoot because that bird seemed to hit that tiny cage at a fast clip. I was just certain it had been injured, but my neighbor explained that was a nightly practice.

@@JoAlwoodBIRDSANDTHENSOME OOOO! You must be near St. Louis if you found Eurasian Tree Sparrows! I saw one about 100 miles away on my porch in West Frankfort, Illinois, some years ago! They don't seem to venture far from St. Louis and I'll never forget sitting next to a young man on a plane back then and finding out he was an ornithologist. I asked him if he'd ever seen a Eurasian Tree Sparrow, and his eye bugged out. "Have YOU?" he asked, and when I told him I lived in southern Illinois and had seen one at least 100 miles away, he said, "I'd give anything to see one in person!" Anyway, I never thought I'd be interested in these little creatures, but I have the bug!
