Bravo, Dr Heiser! I love you and your work! Truly a man after Truth and Frankness above form and religion! I suspect that the Ark will make one more short appearance and be defiled - and that event has to do with the ongoing challenge of discerning (and discarding, lol) our different and periodically upgraded expectations of the “literal vs allegorical” nature of “end times” prophetic events. But either way, Jeremiah 3:16 remains the final word.
@canadiankewldude3 жыл бұрын
As God's prophet, if he was instructed to hide it leaving the comment he did, seems reasonable. God would then have allowed him and whoever helped, to touch it. Naturally he would not record where it was, God's command. Makes sense to me. *_God bless_*

Question on the Law, isn't it a requirement that the blood of the sacrifice be sprinkled on the mercy seat? And as Jesus is the perfect (and last) sacrifice, wouldn't His blood need to be sprinkled as the Law required? How would that be accomplished? Thanks for help on this!
@a-lightful-forest3 жыл бұрын
I guess that aspect took place in a spiritual form ... Hebrews 9:11-12 says: "But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption."

Fascinating stuff. I listen to Dr. Heiser for the scholarly technical information. As for the Truth, one might have to go elsewhere for that. God tends to not reveal Truth to scholars but to "infants" (Mt 11 25). Still, fascinating stuff.
@danielmann54273 жыл бұрын
Technical information is opposed to Truth? The apostle Paul was not a scholar? Did not the apostle Paul condem a particular group of Christians for being like infants when they should be mature?
@viboraodalager88183 жыл бұрын
@@danielmann5427 Thanks for the comment. Technical information is not "opposed" to Truth, but they're not the same thing. Scholars, even unbelieving, liberal scholars, can provide us with useful technical information e.g. linguists on the grammar and syntax of Hebrew, archaeologists on the historical background of the biblical accounts etc. But as for the Truth i.e. what God actually is saying to us in the Bible, that's something that the Holy Spirit reveals to "infants" i.e. those with humble, childlike faith who tremble at the Word of God. And so, you can have a very smart Bible scholar fill you in on the technicalities of the grammar and geography and archaeology of the book of Genesis, for instance, and it will be very useful information, but that very same scholar could be an atheist who doesn't even believe that in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth...

Here is a PERFECT example of what Dr. Heiser is talking about in the "Bible Code" and how what man added can change things.... When Christ is on the cross and turns to the repentant thief, he says "I say unto you today you will be with me in paradise" (that may be a paraphrase, I don't have my Bible open to that verse eight now but makes no difference for my point). That is the way it was written in Greek. There was no punctuation. Now most people say that the thief went to heaven that day because man added the comma here...... "I say unto you, today you will be with me in paradise". BUT (This is what I believe) move the comma to make this sentence..... "I say unto you today, you will be with me in paradise". Moving the comma just one word completely changes the meaning.... I believe the second example because other verses back up the fact that we don't go to paradise until the day of judgement.....

This is an item that was his footstool; if you touched it you died. But, nah, now it's just nothing. I have a hard time wrapping my head around that. Clearly, I am not God, so if that's the case, I'm also surprised there isn't something written about God's change of heart.

But if you do want to rebuild the Temple, you still have a major problem. Where are you going to put it? It's not going to go up there next to the Dome of the Rock, and it wasn't inside the City of David. And the whole area is built up with lots of other buildings now ...

Ezra brought stuff back, right? The less said the better. Wipe the sweat off their butts and settle down for a few days. [nervous grins all around] So, it made a round trip. As long as nobody back then knew what it was. . . . . There is also the possibility that it was put into the "imposing Altar" at Geliloth?
