Dr Heiser is dearly missed. He was such a blessing to me in my walk. Such a valuable talk here

Th learn of his passing is a sadness for me too. I am newer in my walk and had a question concerning Mathew 16 and the Rock. M6 pastor recommended Dr. Heiser and it was extremely enlightening. He is a daily source. May God have peace and mercy on you and yours.

Dr Mike was diplomatic but firm. He was a brilliant but humble man.

Great stuff. It's quite an exercise to revisit scripture with the Deuteronomy 32 worldview, not just flavoring the intake, but completely causing me to rethink interpretation.

When I consider the centurion whose servant was healed and the centurion at the cross, I have always believed that the Romans\ non Jewish people knew more about God and therefore understood the diety of Jesus more easily than the Jews did.

The God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament...his actions are exactly correct and just and compassionate when you understand what was going on at that time vis the Duetoronomy

I believe the term Dr. McDermott was looking for is, "Plundering the Egyptians..."

The problem with the terms Jew Israel, is that they were essentially redefined to basically mean believers in Christ. That’s why you have verses like those who say they are Jews but lie, & Israel will be saved. Yet then you have the 144,000 which is Jews (bloodline Hebrews) who believed from birth as opposed to all the others who are martyred for rejecting the mark. The church has a different role, some being sealed before the opening of the abyss, others being martyred for rejecting the mark. Some verses are literal geographical terms & some are spiritual terms that transcends genealogy. But you have to view each mention by the context in which it’s being spoken. People want a simple answer for a complex subject, & there isn’t one answer because it’s all case by case. It isn’t meant to be easy. It’s meant to make people study & focus & pray for guidance.

On the topic of super sessionism, I'm certainly no theological expert, but at least on the surface, just reading through scripture, it seems fairly straightforward Israel has always been comprised of both Jews and Gentiles. The relative slice of the pie has shifted at various stages in history. You could say the emphasis on Gentiles increased in the New Testament. But at the end of the day, we Gentiles get grafted in to Israel. We don't replace Israel.

Isaiah 43:10. No matter how you view Israel, it is certain that whatever happens to the jews serves as a witness to us that His word will be fulfilled. He will do what He says He will do.

How do non-dispensationalists understand the last chapter of Zechariah? Pretty hard to get around that it both has not yet happened and undoubtably involves Israel. Dispensationalists generally seem right.

The two criminals being crucified beside Jesus do suggest that at the moment of death, God is able to determine who lives and who does not. Pagans can be saved because it can not be assumed that they will actually agree with everything their pagan god is trying to teach them. Example: The Muslim father who wants his daughter to be formally taught in school and does not believe Islam's teaching to keep women uneducated.

Uhmm,uhumm,yep,yep.. HORRIBLE he turned you out the moment you said non Christians can have the lord in their heart. Yet another "CHRISTIAN " with the ""CHOSEN"" view... HORRIBLE GUEST... ??so if I am not given the lord Jesus CHRIST at BIRTH anything I do that is not in McDermott's view total and all inclusive of his fellowships view of Christ worthy then on my route to living the best as I can to be a positive force among Men is no better then any little sin and any sin is sin indeed thus FIRE AND BRIMSTONE is what I merit.
