I used to pay $65 to have my down comforter dry cleaned. I watched your video & followed your instructions today. I spent $3.00 to wash at laundry mat in the big washer. Good job! Exactly how I washed & dried my super lofty, king Pacific Coast comforter yesterday. It's now hanging over hall bannister to get wrinkles out. It did take all day to dry & I repositioned it at least every hour if not more often. I also used the low heat setting to avoid burning it. It looks great! I came here to see if there's any other tip I missed! (I also used 2 wool dryer balls & at one point I tossed in a cloth sneaker that I first put into a mesh lingerie bag).

I am lucky to have a tube well at home. I just washed it in open guzzling water after hand scrubbing it with detergent n then spread it flat on 2 clean bedsheets on a clean garden table. then I rolled it with them to rid of excess water. later I kept patting it every hour to loosen up the feathers. It took 1 and a half days to air dry but it was worth it.

Thanks. Did I miss temp guidelines? I prefer to wash mine in an industrial washer but at home I use cool water a little detergent and dry on low for a couple hours, checking and adjusting. Wool dryer balls are great for these and for cotton or linen sheets too!

How come you didn't mention using a mild detergent like Woolite? How come you didn't mention to use warm water and NEVER to use hot because it will strip the natural oils off of the down? Or, when you do decide to wash, make sure you're using front load machines as to not damage the comforter? ...and if you use tennis balls, it's a good idea to stuff them inside of a sock to keep from transferring the color of the balls to your comforter. Please, don't make videos under a misguided title like, "Housekeeping Instructions" if they are not very informative.

I wash my king comforter in a top-loading machine that has no agitator. Works just good as front loader & has much more room!

I would personally get either a 5.2cu washer with no agitator or take it to the laundromat once a month. Ok it's a drag to have to sit there but when I tried doing big stuff in my standard washer and ended up racking up TONS of service calls. Not worth it. Thank you however for the tips on the dryer balls for fluffing and drying quicker!

I have a huge agitator-less top loader and it's great for my king down comforter! Wish the dryer were larger, but it dried it just fine with 2 wool dryer balls and a cloth sneaker tossed in. But use lowest heat setting and reposition at least every hour!

I have a very expensive King sized down comforter. It won't fit in my machine. I was washing the duvet cover when my 120lbs dog decided to make himself comfortable on my bed. His chin pimples bled ALL OVER the comforter. He's got allergies, so he's an obsessive paw licker too. My poor comforter is such a mess, I don't know what to do. Should I just take it to a dry cleaner? I'm thinking I should soak it in my tub with peroxide & ammonia a few times before bringing it to the laundromat & use one of those industrial giant washers 🤔 😩

Seriously how do you people not understand. Read your instructions labels on the the tag of your comforter which will indicate what temp your specific comforter needs. She shouldn’t have to explain that part to you. At that point either wash your comforter in your washer at home or go to the nearest laundromat to use a more convenient washer. Then dry your comforter while placing tennis balls so that the comforter retains its shape. As far as what soap and dryer sheets you need to use that all on you. She’s giving you tips on how she washes her comforter to keep its shape.

I would not recommend putting your comforter in a dryer. Instead lay it flat has much has possible on a clothes line. You don't want the down feathers to stick together

I tell you how since she didn't. Put it inside the washing machine and wash it in cold water with abundant soap. Take it out and repeat the wash without soap. Dry it in the sun for one or two days in the heat of the summer. Or use a dryer if you live in a depressing country with rainy cloudy weather.
