@@thunderlighting2006 I think it's neither of those. She cares only about appearing ethical to others. She's happy to inflict harm on patients as long as doing so makes her look ethical to others. I think that's built into her character as written, because she does it so often: loudly proclaiming her moralistic positions while acting immoraly herself - like persuading Chase into s*x, instead of monitoring the patient, giving her patient a mickey so he falls apart after discharge etc. Great scriptwriters! They understand the problem with moralistic people is that they never question their own judgments or ethics.

The 1st patient with the lung cysts ended up having Sjogrens. If they would have just ran a simple ANA then ENA blood tests to rule out autoimmune conditions, they would have noticed she had it instead of doing more complicated testing. Reminds me of the episode where Foreman took on the case with the kid whose brother gave him too many children's vitamins and he ended up with high iron levels that made him sick. Wouldn't the ER have ran a basic panel of blood work, since that would have included iron levels. Some cases seem like they could be solved by simpler methods but they purposely make it more complicated.
