I would have to disagree with you. I think the problem is is everybody expected him to be a star scorer when he was always a Draymond Green type of player and with the roster he was on he fit that role perfectly.

But the important thing to remember is we didn't need him to be a star scorer. We just needed him to be respectable. He would've been perfectly fine as the 3rd or 4th offensive option on this team if the defense didn't guard him from 6ft away every possession. That made him the sole reason that we had trouble spacing the floor, which is even worse when you consider her was so adamant about being the PG and controlling the flow of the offense. It got worse every season and his confidence was progressively destroyed as teams began to exploit his weaknesses more often.
