I did a 6 week pottery class too in January-February and all my stuff came out sooo tiny haha. I kept forgetting about how much the pieces would shrink in the kiln

Your handmade shallow dishes would be exceptional vessels for pings but you’d have to plug the holes for my vision. They’ll grow directly onto lava rocks and then you just keep the rocks in a shallow pool of water to keep it moist. You could also plant them in substrate, too but I just can’t get ping gardens out of my mind 😍😍 Also, congratulations, Becca and welcome to motherhood 🎉❤

Bonsai types and like ficus ginseng do super well in shallow pots! That’s be soo cute with some moss and river rock and some kind of bonsai in it

You can do lithops (living stones) or even carnivorous plants perfectly in your shallow pots!

The little white one, you could propagate a string of things. Put soil in, lay the string on top, and keep moist for a bit.

I'd call it the Cacti Kindergarten Tray. 😄 The 3rd pot you could put some pretty rocks in there with a few small air plants.

For the shallow pot, you could honestly propagate string of hearts using the butterfly method and it’d work for a while lol

Congratulations. So happy for you. Being pregnant is wonderful.. Buy yourself a cream, it has a cow feet on the front of the box, apply that on your big belly, it prevents stretch marks. I used it. It works.

For the shallow pots - I would say succulents or, if you’re interested in trying something new, Pinguicula (carnivorous succulent-like plants) have super shallow root systems!

Congrats!! I don't have any theme for my pottery, it's colorful and in a way to me still feels cohesive. I definitely prefer glazed ceramic over terracotta because I'm already bad at keeping up on watering. Your shallow pot you could put like a ground cover sedum succulent!

Congratulations on the baby! I enjoy seeing pots. I recently found one at Walmart that gave me vibes like your pot the fittonia was in, so I got it for my own fittonia lol. It's terracotta with a cream glaze over it in a flower pattern. So nice!

You could use the shallow pot for succulent propagations, string of hearts, pearls, turtles (if you have any of those) even an inch plant! Or if you ever get into bonsai I’m sure that plant would love it

For the shallow pots, you could try some haworthia or other succulents (I would not recommend echeveria, they'll get too wild unless you have them under a strong grow light), I have some succulents in shallow pots just like that and they can live there forever with how small the root systems stay.

You can use a diamond crusted drill bit and make holes for drainage. I have done 25 pots, terracotta, glazed etc and none have cracked. I have a small bit and a larger one. There are KZbin videos out there

congratulations on the pregnancy! butterworts would be so good in that 1.5 inch shallow bowl (or the pots, though you might have to plug up the drainage holes). i can imagine some beautiful pink butterworts in there potted in white/neutral colored substrate (like sand and vermiculite mixture)!

I am trying my string of turtles in a tray deep pot. So far so good. I thought it would be good bc the root system is shallow? It has a wooden stand that it sits on to elevate it more.
