Love this video!! So many videos of plants that would never be bought again only include those plants that were killed, or heavily infested by pests, not the ones that are actually great but could be multiplied easily such as pothos. New subscriber here! 🌿💚

I love this video, I used to struggle with aglaonemas and calathea until I changed two things. Those two things are simple, check aglaonemas for net pots, remove net pots and they do grow slow and do terrific. With calathea use filtered water or rain water or water from fish tanks, and always bottom water them. My plant tastes have changed and evolved. I struggle with peperomias, hoyas, and some monsters. Fun fact: there are many plants that look similar to these that grow much easier, I do look for cheaper ones to try. But before going to variegated ones, try the green version in your space. This will save money, and the growth habits are different. They look nice but some grow very slowly, some are much better outside, and some I just don't like. Plant prices vary, and go in cycles. I've bought some reverted plants that were super cute and super cheap, in my experience they don't always variegated again, so if you like those cool, but not all are same.

Yeah I guess I never stayed consistent on using rain water, we use distilled and rain water for Austin’s carnivorous plants so I could’ve but I felt like I was wasting his water😂

It took me awhile to get hang of it. Once I started doing this game changer I keep using it and water my other plants by bottom watering. I hose em off in shower. I've had zero pest problems too

Girl I can't keep an aglaonema alive to save my life!! I wonder if it's because the big box stores have them in those net pots but I'm too turned off at this point!! (Dieffenbachia also a struggle)!💚💚

I’m sure I wouldn’t do well with Dieffenbachia either🤣 They’re also toxic I believe so I try to keep super toxic plants out of my collection just because I don’t want to risk it with my pets

Rattlesnake calathea and mosaica are tough as nails. I have few for years now and touch wood they never had any posts or any other problems. I just use rain water for em 😉

For me one of the plants I wouldn’t buy again is the spider plant they are so beautiful but I’ve killed mine each time 😢

I’ve tried with the variegated Compacta 3 times and they’ve died 3 times. No more. However, the Mauna Loa is doing well.

I kill 3 compactas so i decided to buy them big give them lots of lights and water when the soil is dry. Otherwise leave them alone.

The only thing on my no buy list is Calathea Dottie or any of the Roesopicta variants. Tried more times than I'm willing to admit indoors and out with zero success. The problem with Aglaonema is they are slow growers even in the best of conditions. The crazy colored Aggies are difficult but mostly green ones (silver bay, maria, etc) are extremely hardy.

African Violets! Love them! Hate them! Watching their slow demise is painful, so I nurture them back to health. And then start the sad cycle once again 😢

Lol same! I have all 5 of them left above my sink now so I have to be reminded of watering them. I just pruned them too so they’re looking a little less crappy now🥲🤣

Philodendron Dean McDowell - I have never had a plant that got spider mites like that one did, not even Calatheas or verrucosum. Never again.
