June 6, my mind today is focused on remembering so as not to forget… On this date in 1944, thousands of Allied soldiers landed on five different beaches in Normandy. The operations success made it possible to liberate Europe from evil. For those who participated in d-day, their actions and their losses will never be forgotten. On this the 80th anniversary of d-day we give thanks to the greatest generation for they gave us the chance to live free of tyranny.

I would recommend Death Traps by Major Belton Cooper who landed on the beach that day and saw the war to the occupation of Berlin. He had a unique postion as grave registration officer he and his driver spent the last months driving from the rear through the GAP confused lines to the front he saw more than most and wrote an important and informative book about it. There is one section where he describes a B17 being shot out of the sky by a small super fast moving aircraft and gives the account of one of the first jet fighter engagements.

The person who asked about grocery prices - good question! Publix is so popular in Florida but it’s a pricier store. Walmart has lower prices in comparison. What we have grown to love is Aldi - they are a nice, small store and many of their items are even cheaper than Walmart! Keep in mind, Aldi typically does not have name brand items but instead has their own brand and we like them! Worth checking into! Linda, thank you for showing your painted rocks-love them!!! You do a great job!!!

Publix is all about the BOGO’s. I buy a lot of things when they are BOGO. I’m not a milk drinker but family members who drink milk have opinions about which stores have better milk and they don’t like WalMart milk. Keep up the good work. Linda, have a wonderful trip!

The bands are fantastic! Being able to enjoy the squares free is a benefit all who visit them. Folks seem to forget that trucks bring the groceries. With the price of diesel fuel so expensive, the shipping costs are passed on to the consumer. Lower the price of fuel and ease the end price for consumers. Our favorite show is a couple known as "Jerry and Linda - The Villages Florida Newcomers!" They're awesome! The rocks are beautiful - such an awesome way to connect with the community. Ask Amy, please let folks know that my wife and I are more than willing to accept any gifts that they wish to leave us in his/her will. Your segments are always informational. Thanks! A friend worked at GM - couldn't wait to get her HH2. After she had, we asked how she liked it. She said she hated it. She had found out that it was built in Mexico! Great show - Keep it up!

Love your painted rocks! During COVID, my little boy and I painted lots of rocks then we’d go to playgrounds very early in the morning and hide them. We pretended we were secret agents. Such a fun hobby! Thanks for sharing yours. ❤

Thank you for doing the price comparison. I ran over to Publix to get some sausage for macaroni dinner. $2 more a package than Aldi's. Pasta was 50cents more a package. I couldn't do it. I shop smart, cook for 3 and our avg cost per person/meal is usually about $3-$5 a person. I cook well because I shop well. Aldi & Walmart. Ps. I think I saw you, Jerry, on your bike on Wednesday when we were on our way to Dunedin pool.

We checked how much Walmart groceries cost on basic items comparing Michigan and Florida....and they were the exact same price. Wally is doing a great job keeping prices in line. We add a trip to Costco every 6 weeks or so and that seems to keep costs under control.

My husband and I have been addicted to your KZbin channel lately and a couple more people we’re following in the villages. We’re going to the villages July 4 for three nights to just drive around and look at everything. Currently we live in Georgia, (but we did live in the Saint Augustine area for almost 10 years ) but are pretty convinced that there’s a good chance we’re going to retire in The Villages when Tim retires in about five years. We love watching your videos. Our grown children think we’re crazy but they laugh. I love all your videos. We’ve been watching with his KZbin account, but I can’t comment on the TV so I had to use the app right now and subscribe with my phone so I can comment now. Take care you guys, maybe will bump into you! We’re staying at the waterfront Inn in the villages.

No Publix in Utah only go to Walmart even though we have Krogers and smaller ones like Winegars..but the prices are much more than Walmart. Gas in Utah is 3.50/ gallon.

Publix is like our Harris Teeter. You have to watch the sales, but you can get some good deals & their produce is better than Walmart. We shop at 4 different grocery stores depending on sales. Near about everything has to be on sale before we purchase it. We also go to Sam's & Costco. We have a training facility for Military & Law Enforcement somewhat near us & some days it can sound like a battleground. I really feel for people who live closer than we do.

I live in a small town in Louisiana and the prices for Walmart are exactly what our prices are. Our gas right now is $2.84 a gallon. Love your show and love seeing you twice a week. Hey guys. Happy Thursday. I love a pool that’s 5ft to get a good swim. Hard swimming in 3ft 6. Wow. When I lived in the Poconos, Pa Walmart was an amazing grocery and super center. Look at the difference in those prices with Publix. Ha. We all have the senior moments. I can’t tell you what I had for breakfast yesterday but can tell you what I wore to church Mother’s Day in 1986. Or I’m looking for my pen and it’s in my hand. I could write ✍️ a list 😂😂. A few more streaming available shows which may be of interest during those hot summer days: The Kominsky Method, Last Tango in Halifax, Kim's Convenience, Apple TV-Masters of the Air, Greyhound (even if you just sample ATV for a week), Bosch, Wellington Paranormal, Line of Duty, or any of the English police or investigative shows for a change of pace. The Blue Angels just release on Prime is also worth a watch, especially on a high definition TV. As a side note, Publix makes very good deli sandwiches.

I find Publix very expensive. There are a couple of items I do like from Publix - their rotisserie chicken and their bakery. I mostly shop at Walmart or Aldi's. Bottled water for some reason is cheaper at Publix. Walmart's bottled water is pricer.

Sorry for coming late to the party, busy day today. Up here by SS we hear the bombing at the Ocala Forest. The family pools have been busy up here with kids, adult pools busy but not packed. Oh yes !! We get the blasting after effects. I live in Fenney. A direct line from the blasting 2638 feet! I had the company come to my house and show me where they are blasting. Get this , they have approval for the next 128 years to do this. It’s annoying for sure. So far no damage but I wish it was not happening.

Love that you compared prices of Publix vs Walmart. I did the same with about 15 typical items about 3 years ago. Every item was between 60-100% MORE expensive at Publix! That is a huge difference. We are very close to Publix at Magnolia Grove. It literally costs hundreds of dollars a month more to shop at Publix. Publix has great sandwiches and desserts, but I go to Walmart if I have more than like 3 items to buy. Now some people will get snooty and say they would never enter a WalMart. LOL.

@@JERRYANDLINDA my father in law, who passed away, had high school diploma only, but worked at least 2 jobs, lived off one and saved the other. My 89 yr old mother in law is a millionaire because of him. He also set up savings accounts at Morgan Stanley for all his grandkids and encouraged them to save birthday miney and invest it in stocks like McDonalds, Exxon, Microsoft, etc. They all have good starter accounts for when they graduate.

We are avid Jeremy Clarkson fans.The chemistry between him, James May and Richard Hammond is hard to beat in Top Gear (UK) after a dispute BBC they got picked up by Netflex to do the Grand Tour. My dad fought on Okinawa during World War II and was in the occupation forces in Japan. He would never consider buying a Japanese car. I, on the other hand, have owned many Japanese cars, including my favorite, a Lexus LS 460 some years ago. I even own a 2023 Honda Ridgeline pick up truck now. But I also own a Ford SUV and a Buick convertible. I don’t care where something comes from as long as it is what I need, and can afford.

Hi Jerry and Linda, why not just do viewer questions and shout outs on Mailbag Monday, and do the other Features on Thursday. That way people feel like they are getting something different each video. Just a thought.

Well, that is the way we did it for 5 years. That gave me 2 rock solid deadlines every week. You may not believe it but I put in more hours to achieve that than I did when I was teaching. This way it allows me the freedom to put other show on when I get them finished, with no strict schedule. I have some ready to go right now, And by being able to space them out I have some downtime to enjoy my retirement.

I live in northern Virginia and as a general rule, everything here is more expensive than in Florida, and in the Villages. But groceries are now more expensive there. It didn't used to be that way. We've had a timeshare in Orlando for over 17 years. We used to go to Publix and bring certain groceries back with us because it was so much cheaper. We stock up on cereal. Now its reversed. I wonder why? As am example, lactose free skim milk is more than a dollar more in Florida, even comparing Walmart to Walmart. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but that Hellmanns! Wow😮
