Vitex is probably my favorite from this group. Unfortunately, in the coastal PNW, we don’t get as much heat as much of the country- so the bloom is not as reliable or intense. The same applies to crape myrtle. Heptacodium is a better performing choice for us

The chase vitex info isn’t correct. Mine has to be pruned way back each year and grows quickly. Gorgeous tree and the blossoms are amazing. They smell like honeysuckle, jasmine and lavender all in one. My tree right now is about 15’x20’. It is a pollinators dream tree. Each summer it hosts thousands of bees. All kinds, bumble bees, honey bees, all kinds. Beautiful. We get compliments almost daily.

@lovelight9164 That's good to know! We just moved to the Midwest zone 5 and left a gorgeous Eastern Redbud tree at our old house in Nor Cal zone 9. I loved it in spring, having all the bees and birds eating the flowers. In summer, the leaves were a vibrant green color, and they changed color in the fall. 💚

In housing developments, landscape designers often select trees that soon dwarf the house or condo they were planted next to. Designers also do not take into account the amount of pruning some trees require.

Be careful where you plant your trees specially in your front yard. Stay away from the main waterline and in the backyard from sewer lines. Also some trees because of their root systems which can damage your foundation should not be planted. If you don’t know where all these plumbing lines are - don’t plant any trees.

You are absolutely correct. People plants trees all around their homes and the roots of the trees cause havoc underground. Thousands of dollars for underground repairs to pipes. Sad.

Prejudices like this hardly seem relevant if the info is worthwhile. I appreciate the info - it was just what I was looking for. TBH, an AI voice that is clear and easily heard and understood is preferable to a voice that has a strong accent, or a rambling off-topic speaker, or a mumbler. There is a place for AI voices, e.g., someone with lots of knowledge to share, but hates his or her own voice. There is a YT creator that when she speaks, her voice is screechy and whiny so I just have to turn off the sound and put on CC. You can do that w/the AI voice too.
