Applications submitted for the lottery must be submitted online using a smart phone, mobile device, or computer with Internet access.

ELIGIBILITY
The Section 8 program offers assistance to very low income families by paying a portion of their rent to private property owners.
The applicant must be:
Anyone who is 18 years of age or older, or who is an emancipated minor in accordance with California law, may apply for the program. The family’s household income must be below the current very low income limit for Los Angeles City, listed below.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Mayor Eric Garcetti and housing officials are set to discuss the opening of the waiting list lottery for Section 8 housing vouchers on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Online registration will begin at 6 a.m. Oct. 17 and end at 5 p.m. Oct. 30.
Low-income individuals and families are eligible for the Section 8 program, which pays a portion of rent directly to landlords.
The Section 8 waiting list has been closed since 2017 and more than 365,000 applications are expected to come in this year.
The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles currently administers more than 51,300 vouchers.
LOS ANGELES, October 31, 2017 - - The Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles (HACLA) Section 8 Waiting List Lottery application period is now closed, following a two-week period of accepting online applications. A total of 187,804 HACLA Section 8 Waiting List Lottery applications were received, representing 457,642 total household members.
HACLA will now use a computer-randomized lottery to select up to 20,000 applicants for placement on the Section 8 Waiting List. A preference for assistance will be given to applicants who live, work, or have been hired to work within the City of Los Angeles and to applicants who are veterans or have a household member who is a veteran, released from such military service under conditions other than dishonorable. By December 1, 2017, all applicants will receive an email to inform them whether or not they were selected to be placed on the Section 8 Waiting List. Applicants may also check their status at hacla.hcvlist.org or by calling [phone]/TTY 711 after this date.

Thank you for this video. I land on extremely low income, DV, and homeless. Housing Authority told me that I would need to have a family of 7-10 people in order to get assistance. I’m a single mom of 2. I have no family aside from my children and it’s a struggle

I get an awful lot out of it when you explained at 10 min 46 seconds the order of things. I typed it all out so I could impress it into my head better which video it came from. I liked the story about "Word Play" And the order of those eligable. I'm calling them.. "The Quotes of Jay" or "Jayisms" I'm typing them down now. If I dont I forget which video they came from.
