Houston Newsmakers: HISD superintendent discusses challenges district faces

Sad he is only going on his experience. This is not about being poor it is about given an opportunity to make this community better. I know people that have 2 master degrees and can not make $40,000 dollars a year. You could not begin to understand what these people are going through. This superintendent does not have a superintendent certification. How did he jump over all of these people that have put in the work to achieve a superintendent certification. This system is hypocritical because he jump the line and not merits which they always place with Blacks. This is how the whole system is set up. If you want to put the blame on someone start with the top. Where were the school board when these schools were failing. It starts with the top TEA should have been out there in the schools working with the superintendents and principals to make sure they had what they needed. Immigrants can come to the United States and get extra money for books and anything else they need off of the taxpayer money. The Blacks who pay tax payers can't get any of their taxes spent in their community for education, they are supposed to be the lowest in the district, but never got their own money to make sure they succeed in education. There are programs put together from Austin that helped the immigrants, but not the other kids in the school. These bilingual teachers had scripted lessons, books that went with the lessons, videos for the lesson and test. The other teachers had to beg the bilingual teachers to get materials to teach. This is a disaster waiting to happen and it is not going to be good for certain students. If you are not going to distribute materials out evenly you will not make a difference. You can't play with people's children, God is watching you and everyone that is on top scapegoating the teacher and principals. It is all about the money and which students and schools get what is need. He wants to go around talking about he worked hard to be in the position he is in. There are people working 2 and 3 jobs to make ends meet for their home and have the education to succeed in life. They just don't get the opportunity like he did.
