What I see from these contracts are; 1- Jalen realizes he has room to improve. He is unsatisfied with himself, and he knows that he needs a few more years to mature his game. So he basically bet on himself to sign a true max-level contract. 2- Sengun is more interested in safety than he is interested in signing a true max. Something probably clicked after last year's injury, and he realized that an athlete's career may end in a single inopportune moment. Every time the topic of his contract came up during interviews, he basically stated that he just wanted to sign and forget about the money to properly focus on his craft. Both are good deals for Rockets. Sengun's contract specifically may turn out to be the ultimate steal in the league within a few months, sort of like Mikal Bridges' was.

Nothing new with Stone. We've always known Stone is great at negotiating contracts. I think people need to slow down a bit on declaring him the greatest GM ever. Don't forget he's not great at making those moves on the margins, and that's the difference between a good gm and a great gm. Hopefully he grows in that area. It does look very good though if your on the restructure and extend FVV team(which I'm on). Also no constant contract talk during the season to distract them is another plus. Hopefully JG lives up or even exceeds his contract, and Sengun is a hell of a deal. Think also that partially both where thinking long term on wanting to try and keep this core together, and for that to happen they needed to take less then the max so that their teammates can get decent extensions too.

I wakeup to search for your analysis bro. I was so happy last night and and more happy now after listening to everything you said. I'm looking forward to tomorrow game because this season will be the most fun since we where up 3-2 against GSW in the playoffs. I also we're taking a similar path as the OKC and this year we will become relevan in this league once again and end up in the 5-6 seed no matter what the media is saying. After watching the NBA for 30yrs, I feel confident to differ with the "experts" here and there. Finally something the has blown out my mind, is the among of coverage that these contract extensions have received from the media and special Jalen Green, as most of them talk about him as "Rockets star, Jalen Green". The party start tomorrow for us. See you on X!

The new CBA made it so that small markets could keep their home grown stars. All it created was a situation where desirable locations can get home grown stars at discounts and undesirable destinations need to max players that haven't earned it. Basically created an "Undesirable City" tax.

I would not extend Jabari's contract. He doesn't contribute enough to deserve a higher contract than he already has.
@KyouOneZillaАй бұрын
I'm a trade him on draft day guy, but that is entirely because I really REALLY want Khaman Malauch and we'll need ammo to move up for him. It's not that I don't like Jabari, I think he will thrive in a different environment. It's more that it would financially help the cap to replace Jabari's minutes with a rookie contract. Khaman can shoot the 3 ball and can play the 4 or 5 with Sengun. Eventually Adams will be gone from the roster so Malauch is the replacement for up to 2 players (Bari and Adams). My priorities with the remaining core are to extend Tari, Amen and Reed. Bari getting an extension before them complicates matters, especially since Jalen will also be up for an extension when Reed is if he uses his player option.

Who won? WE WON 🤘 We know what Rafael Stone is a contract lawyer, and we trust in his ability to come up with non-conventional deals that'll give us some flexibility, right? It's one thing for him to negotiate these deals. It's another for Alpi and Jalen's camp to accept it. This lets me know that the Rockets organization has leverage -- they see the amount of growth they that they had under one year of Udoka, the type of team that were building here, and they both said: "We want to be a part of this, we'll take less." And like you said, this sets the standard for everyone else on the roster. This is huge in the age of "Chasing the Bag." We just expanded our window for being really competitive in the west. Increasing our chances to win a championship.

This was the best deal for jalen, no matter how he plays he can just turn down the last year and leave with no problems, if i was the rockets i wouldve pushed for atleast 4 years, cuz now they only in control of a #2 pick for 6 years instead of 9. Also if jalen wants to leave this was the move that needed to be made to facilitate that.

@lookoutlordyАй бұрын
Jalen’s deal is masterclass on his behalf & also a win for the Rockets. It’s along the same lines as the Jalen Brunson deal. Increasing earnings now but not fully committing to a salary at an unnecessary rate that prolongs current value. Not to mention inflation continues to rise ! Additionally, the new media rights (begin next season) increase the cap & earning potential of all players. Coming out of this extension Jalen will reset the market for his draft class at two to three years time while his peers are locked in for that time period. Al P as the previous number 16 pick had limited earning potential as a non lottery pick, he legit won with his player option, for he is certainly expected to outperform the new contract. Decent analysis though. Glad this won’t loom over the team & we should be able to focus on simply winning. Let’s go 🚀 !!
@bastadimastaАй бұрын
It was a very smart move. Stone guaranteed to keep Sengun in the long term, while opening up space for FVV for two more years. Jalen's contract is even smarter. Jalen is now peoperly motivated to i crease his performance with a short contract which also benefits Jalen if he is to be traded after 2 years. After two years, Jalen is to be traded for a draft picks, and we will have further cap space for Reed and Amen.
