Say what you want but this man is a true success story. A great example of coming from nothing and having nothing but what his mother instilled in him. Drive, determination, pride, integrity, and just plain hard work. He is of a dying breed. Many of the generations after his are lazy, entitled, and just waiting for it to fall from the sky. Pay attention to this man if you want to be successful. Love you Gene.

@@frozenwarning ok sure let me break it down since you wanna propagate negativity and dismissiveness. I grew up living in poverty with a single mother. At the young age of 17 i took advantage of my environment and leveraged the in i had being a resident in a poor apartment complex and went to the office one day and said hey, i cant paint your units for you at the end and beginning of each month (when evictions and move ins happened). I had no idea what i was doing but used all of my time, set aside my relationships with friends (which was difficult being a HS student) and worked as hard as i could to make it out of a less then ideal environment. Anyone who shares a similar experience can relate to the story and advice from someone like gene simmons. No one wants to promote hard work, or sacrifice. Everyone wants the fast way out, or the path of least resistance. But in my opinion the path of least resistance isnt a path worth taking because the pay off of hard work and persistence is always worth it. That was the start of my lifelong career which still continues to this dayto provide for my family and is being passed to my children. If you wanna argue an opposing ideology of laziness, not working hard, passing up opportunities, having no integrity, settling for less, only having whats been given to you, not owning anything, not striving for more, I’d be very interested to hear your take on that.

Ernie, I have seen many Gene interviews and I have to say that was by far one of the greatest interviews of all time. Most interviewers ALWAYS interrupt and try it to relate the interview to themselves, but you are one of the few that actually listens and let's your guests talk without interrupting. Great job , man!

I've had the privilege of getting to hang with Gene on a couple of occasions. This was back in the day when KISS was coming up, and it was just moments, but he was one of the most focused and together dudes I've ever encountered on my path. He deserves (and has earned) every penny his fans want to lavish on him. Just like the Pope and Santa Claus, there's only one Gene Simmons.

I was a huge Kiss fan when I was a kid. Everyone would always think that I loved Kiss because of the cool stage show with pyrotechnics, makeup, and costumes, but that's not true. I did like that stuff, but it's not why I was a fan. I was a fan because I loved their music. When you're listening to a Kiss album, the stage show and makeup and stuff are not there. There's just the music. IMO they were very good song writers, especially Paul Stanley.

I'm not talking about the 70s, I'm talking about now. Gene and Paul go out as KISS with two hired guns using the makeup that Ace and Peter designed. Either have Ace and Peter in the band, or have the other guys create their own makeup.

Gene always gives good... no wait the best advice and i've been using these principals for many years. I also am into music well actually i fluently play 20 instruments and have been very successful not just by playing but by being unique in what i do. On any level one tends to last if they've got something that nobody else has or can do... well look what Prince did... and of course KISS had something nobody else was able to do plus with the right timing thrown in with a lot of sweat. Ho many of us are able to be self made entirely without borrowing anything from anyone else. I've also achieved this kind of success but on a smaller level. Everyone seems to think the world owes them a living... NOT!!!! Anyways i'm on You Tube under Clark McCormack and have folks like "Shania Twain" "John Mayer" "ABC" looking at me but only because i've worked hard and listened to people like my Parents. Advice like Gene's has helped also. Personally i thank everyone who has believed in me no matter ho far i go with this "GOD" given talent. GOD BLESS!!!! ....Clark

It's so easy for people like you to pass people off as "dickheads". Gene is far from a "dickhead". Sometimes he's a bit arrogant or selfish, but generally, he's a good guy...he often changes his attitude depending on what kind of interviewer is talking to him. He's loyal to his mom and loyal to his kids.
