I'll never get the anger toward Gene. Even in this interview he boils it down to not being an ass and working hard. All of his serious conversations include a very humble and common sense theme.

i think it is a good i dea and i like the fact there is something different hidden in each one. i do think this might not have come about if not for the fiasco that ensued from Prince's vault after his death. he is releasing it how he wants and while he can. i also like his disdain for downloading. nothing but real cds for me.

Gene DID NOT discover Van Halen. In 1977 Paul Stanley and his girlfriend were in a club in California and saw Van Halen perform. The next day, Paul told Gene about this band and Gene went to go see them the next night. Gene likes to take credit for VH but if not for Paul, he would never have seen them. Gene produced a demo for VH but it went nowhere. Later on Warner Bros discovered VH and the rest of course is history. But Gene Simmons did not discover Van Halen!!

Gene is basically promising what Santa Claus does. There is no way he is going to be able to hand deliver a few thousand of these things personally. Even if he set a side a year to do so. I just went to the website and I think he is just going to select cities around the world where you would have to go to him to have him give it to you personally. At least that's what I gathered from looking at it.

Essentially correct. He isn't going to visit every city where there is a fan who buys the vault. He will, for example, visit Tokyo for a couple of days and every fan in Japan who buys the vault can travel there to meet him and receive it.

Mixed feelings about Mr. Simmons. I admire him for his achievements as an immigrant that came with his mother from Israel with nothing to one of the biggest Rock stars on the planet. Unfortunately his arrogance is a way of masking his insecurities, i.e., his constant reminder of how successful, how wealthy he is, etc. He knows he is a mediocre musician in an overrated band. Case in point. He has always hidden behind a mask.
