Remember if you’re ever stranded on a boat crossing hundreds of miles of ocean which I know is highly unlikely for most of us if you see birds that in itself is a sign of land. You’re not gonna see any out in the middle of a large ocean.

It wasn’t evil in this case. If you look at background information you’ll see there were cases of decoys pretending to be in need of rescue and then ambushing the submarine crew or even calling in planes to attack the sub while it was on the surface. Remember this was during WW2. It wasn’t evil. It was just trying to survive.

I mean, submarines where already very cramped, and food and supplies where very limited for submarines while at sea. And the submarine crew was busy manning the submarine. So they didin't have the space, supplies or crew availability to take prisoners. Remember this is war, and in war providing for your enemy is of very low priority

Religious or not, there IS some force of some kind watching over all of us. Whether one believes it to be God, gods, or some sort of “higher power” of any kind, there is someone or something that brings order and fate to being and watches over everyone. You don’t have to be religious to believe and see that miracles, or whatever you want to call them, such as this story are beyond are human will or comprehension. Stories like this are only possible with the guidance and protection of a higher power.

He and some of his other comrades were picked up from their life raft by another ship. After escaping death twice this way, father decided to jump ship in New York. However by coercion he was inducted into the US Army April, 1943 or get sent back to Hong Kong. Father served in Al Levy's unit the 288th (Chinese regiment) Field Artillery Observation Battalion under General Patton. In case anyone is wondering like I was “What is barley sugar?” It’s actually not sugar at all! It’s a type of candy. Like a butterscotch candy but made from barley so with a different taste.

He actually caught a stark and killed it and drank its blood for some days, it was 2 meters long and also he worked out to by tying a rope around his body and swimming when no sharks were around and he caught the Shark with half a bird and the nail he got from the plank, i read this in a book i got called ”extreme survival” with many stories including this one and one i read about Aron Ralston, the man who had to cut of his own arm bcos he got stuck with his arm in a boulder that weight 360 kilograms!
