Honestly and I feel like trash for saying this. But if 6ix9ine made reflective music or an album about the reality of how his life played out I’d listen to it and respect him, but Idk if he has that in him. To look back and say “damn, I’m really free rn and can see my family, I’m alive” instead he drops this mid trash that his fans quickly outgrew. With the world watchin he made the wrong moves man. He’s annoying and I pay him no mind but I’d still listen to a story about what he feels he could’ve done better instead of hyping up toxic garbage.

Dude @donjontaylor I have to fully agree with you. I never followed or listened to his music before but was interested in learning about what happened and yeah im on the same page as your post. I saw someone say that he has to pump out 2 albums on his label before he can go independent. I don't know if he has it in him either but hopefully what you said passes his mind and maybe it happens down the road. For that to happen though he would have to let go of caring all about numbers and $$ and will have to put the music and art before the rest. Idk if that's possible because it's always been about views, followers, numbers but it would be nice to see. He might gain some respect for at least turning the perspective inward for once. Idk it would be cool if he considers going that route one day.

DEADSHOT name 3 reasons why this is unprofessional. If you’re a business who have their own values and there is someone promoting the kind of behavior and actions that 69 does they have every right to not promote his music. Do you even know what unprofessional means? If they voluntarily promote his music they are vicariously promoting him by giving him more ears. That’s called using your damn head by having foresight not unprofessional. If you would continue to support 69s music as a business with all the controversies that come with it that would in turn affect them. That’s not unprofessional, if anything it’s professional for separating yourself from a situation that is not your own.

No. The point is they both flopped because they weren't getting the playlisting that these other artist were getting. If they were given the same playlisting Big Sean got, then they both would have fully surpassed him. If you can't see this, then ur a sheep to the system. I’m always going to root for Daniel but this album wasn’t his best, it felt rushed. I would’ve liked to hear more about where his mindset was during the trial/in jail. He has a lot going for him so I’m sure his spanish album will be 🔥 Also, thank u for pointing out the hypocrisy in hip hop about bundles and playlisting.

It sounds like he bit the hand that feeds musicians the streams they need today to have a big album. Bad move and it cost him. If Chris Brown is still able to get on playlists, he'd have been fine- idgaf about snitching on kidnappers and murderers and neither do most people I know. I have my own reasons that I personally dislike him and him music but he just made bad business moves.

I've always felt that if people knew all the stuff that was going on with 6ix9ine and really considered themselves in his situation how they would have handled it. There was no clear win for 6ix9ine but it's amazing how he's been able to continue his career DESPITE being blackballed. People think Tekashi is STOOPID but he's really a lot smarter than his colorful hair and gaudy appearance would lead people to believe; well either that or his management is the best in the business. Not only did he get out of basically life behind bars, have continued relevance on KZbin, he's been on podcasts and interviews for days, and he's maybe unintentionally exposed how this industry works. I think this video is about SO MUCH MORE than just 6ix9ine. I think it's really a case study of this period of time in streaming history and how much people are really manipulated to liking artists and listening to what they think is popular based on numbers. I wonder how music at large (beyond hip hop) would change if all numbers from public streams to sales numbers and monthly followers were hidden. The music would have to stand on it's own merits and the fans. I understand both sides of the coin...both sides of the coin are people trying to make money and succeed. You could say an artist doesn't care about that but rappers are all about the money as much as the labels and the streaming platforms. I think 6ix9ine knows how to network and has been able to connect with people like Stevewilldoit and other popular creators to start to shed some light on the smut on his public image. I can forsee 69 being around for many years to come and although he's hated now I think one day he will be remembered (and loved) for all the wild stuff he did. Look at artists like Sid Vicious and famous rockstars who did unspeakable things that would have people cancelled and deleted in a heartbeat. I don't like the idea of streaming platforms blackballing artists but I understand they are trying to run a business in a competitive cut throat space. If we take people who are controversial out of the picture then I think we are diminishing the scope of the art. Although you may be hiding something that you don't like you are unintentionally going to be lifting something else up that you didn't necessarily mean to. The algorithm shapes culture now and it's just going to keep steam rolling ahead. Even when you made this video a lot of the nitty gritty details of the algorithms of these sites have mostly been shrouded in mystery. It's just a music machine now. I think there's something to be said for platforms like Bandcamp and other places where independent yet beloved artists can sell albums and vinyls and merch to their fans without the help of these major labels. For me as a small artist and a 90s baby I still buy the albums I like and stream to check stuff out. I get that the younger generations were brought up without buying CDs or appreciating the music in terms of value. If I was raised in this generation of an oversaturated industry I'd be doing the same thing. I just wonder if rap will ever not be the hot genre anymore. We've already seen rap splintering off into so many subgenres (especially during the peak of Soundcloud) and some of the music now may not really accurately be labeled as hip-hop/rap.

@@TheBryanhondacbr I personally don't think its COMPLETELY dead. But, I do agree that theres lots of snitching and cops. For example, everybody self snitches about the crimes n shit they did in their raps, it's almost like there TRYING to put everybody in jail. Like they were set up by police to bust drug dealers and gang members. But, theres some rappers out here who still keep it real and really live what they rap about.

He shoulda waited a month or so after getting out, grinding in the studio then dropped the album not after he already put out like 5 trash songs beforehand. But he was doomed from the start. No one is gonna bump 69 at paries or on the aux now just due to the social stigma surrounding it even if they dont neccesarily care that he's a rat.
