Right. As soon as she opened with that, I was like... uh, her salary is irrelevant here. She couldn't afford that place or those vacations without him, so idk how I feel about this video. It doesn't reflect her salary at all.

It's not necessarily like that, yes, if your partner makes more then your lifestyle can improve because you share certain expenses, but my husband definitely doesn't pay for any of my clothes, jewelry, travel with my girlfriends, none of that.

ok to all the people saying “yeah but he doesn’t pay for everything, etc.” her situation is UNRELATABLE because her husband DOES help pay for things AND her brother lives with them. most people making 52K a year don’t have a living situation like that.

@ramon it’s not like she’s just there sucking up all the air. She chips in so her salary isn’t irrelevant. He just contributes more. Did anyone hear her mention paying bills? Like utilities? Groceries is regular.

Watch Me Save I checked it out. Do u just do budgeting videos. Other financial channels geared towards college students and people trying to save in general offer a variety or advice, tips, and tricks. My favorites channels for these are “debt free Dana” “the financial diet” and of course “Dave Ramsey” they tell us how to cook on a budget, how to bite the bullet and get out of debt etc. I just saw monthly budgeting videos on ur channel. And there’s nothing wrong with that☺️ but I need an array of advice across multiple aspects of the financial world.

Last year, I got this cute heavy winter jacket at Sears for $30 and in reality it was either $20 or $30 dollars more than that so they gave it to me at $30 because of there mistake but if they didn't, I would have not bought it. She seems really smart with her money. Trips and the memories/ experience you gain through those are more important than paying off your loan in a year. I hate the mentality of “ you can’t enjoy anything ever as long as you have bills to pay”. Bills never go away and you only live once and no one knows for how long.... enjoy life people!

OMG: The Judgmentalism in the comments. So what if she's with a man who makes more money. Statistics say that this will be the case for most women who end up in domestic partnerships. So what if she takes great trips. She doesn't have to go on full lock down. She's making meaningful strides to keep herself motivated. So what if her life doesn't reflect your life. It doesn't have to. This is an entertainment docu-series that's simply allowing you a peeping tom moment into somebody else's--not your own--life. It's not like she's being very high and mighty...and inviting the scorn.

I agree, but I think that people are upset that it's like "a 27 yr old making $52k in DC!!! But in reality she is married and it would be more realistic to say "a 27 yr old couple making $142k in DC"
@bohemelavie1
@bohemelavie1 6 жыл бұрын
I think people are simply annoyed that the title was misleading. I still found the video interesting but it wasn’t what it claimed to be, “how a couple who make $142k spend their money” or “how a woman with a shared income spends her money” would have been a better title as that is what the video was actually about!
@swicheroo1
@swicheroo1 6 жыл бұрын
Then those people should not attack her. Personal attacks are un-cool. Some idiot for the website puts the title on this type of stuff. Sometimes they do it for the clicks. Sometimes they do it for the provocation. She didn't make any claims. She was just nice enough to show the place.
@Lauracupcake1121
@Lauracupcake1121 6 жыл бұрын
Khanh Ho most people arent attacking her, they are attacking the video and how financially, it is way different to make 52k on your own, or with a partner who makes over 90k a year, and you are splitting costs, and expenses with them to leave way for luxuries she wouldnt be able to have otherwise. Thats the whole point of the video, to show a life style with that salary. Absolutely not the same. It doesnt give a realistic view of a person living off 52k because she is not living off 52k. Your argument makes no sense and id like to say everybody who up voted this has no common sense in money handling. Its not the same when you are dating someone, to when you are married, living under the same roof, and paying bills and combining salaries together.

I love this series for how relatable it is, especially this episode since I live in Arlington, VA too! I know plenty of people whose lifestyle is very similar to hers. If anything, I think she is more responsible with her money than most. I'm not sure why people are so critical about how she spends her money. She obviously lives a comfortable life and not once asked for pity or sympathy

I hope you don’t mind, but I did a bit of number crunching and here’s where you could make some improvements based on your income: Income $2000 Housing 35%, 700 Debt repayments 5-10%, max $200 Utilities 5%, 100 Transportation 15-20%, 400 Savings minimum 10% $200 Food 10% $200 Your rent is low, but utilities are very high. I’m guessing you’re living in a house with roommates. Your savings are low, probably because your car note is very high and so is your credit card debt. Good luck 🍀👍🏼

absolutely love this series!! Please do more! And keep up with the quality!! It's so interesting to see these as a recent graduate and learning how to manage money. No one really talks about these things and it's kind of weird to ask, very intruding topic. @AllShades01 I think the advice I can give to the general public is to eliminate debt live well below your means and invest early. She seems to have a really good balance between paying off her debts managing bills and having fun with her money. Honestly think that she could probably move to a cheaper apartment it seems a little ludicrous that someone that makes almost half of what her husband makes is paying a full half of the rent. I don't think as a married person I would want to have a roommate but what do I know I'm not married. But yeah she seems very frugal and well put together and very smart.

A lot of people don't realize how much you can save by preparing your own coffee and tea. You can get some really great organic coffees and teas at your local store like sprouts wholefoods Target trader Joe's Tom thumb and etc and you can get a good vegan or regular organic creamer and good disposabl coffee cups. This saves a lot of money for the month. Also when you buy your own snacks or make your own organic healthy treats. also if you get your own methylating juice or you can make your own cold pressed juices and smoothies. Hack you can get a mini Hamilton Beach blender for $15 and blend your own smoothies daily. That will save you a lot of money as well. Sorry just my little rant because I love videos like this. 💙💡

Thank you. I usually have to roll my eyes at relationship finances because people always base it on gender, but there are cases in which one partner should pay more. I would pay more if I lived with a sibling who made half my salary. Let alone my spouse. AND they're putting the same amount into the joint savings. AND he has a fraction of her student loans. It's not always about fairness. It's about supporting your partner.
