Nahin... Govt to chahiye log paise dekar nayi gadi karide, aur woh baithe ke 30 se 55% GST, registration, road tax, cess laga ke logon ke paise churaye... Chahe duniye mein 50 se jyada studies mein kaha Gaya ho ki 15 saal purani ko scrap karne ke bajaye, naye gaadi ko banane mein pollution hota hai... Bhai 5 trillion economy so banana hai.. fasttag,green cess, petrol pe tax, aur spare parts pe 35% GST , labour pe GST, gaadi ke loan pe interest, bahut achi scheme hai bhai..

I agree with you, can we make a group and instead of scraping there should be option of 1 Car fitness checkup,if it shall get passed then allow car 2.If the car shall fail in the fitness checkup then replace those parts of car engine which cause pollution, instead of scraping it's body wheel etc which doesn't cause any pollution. Car engine may cost between 40000 to 1lac But govt don't implement this approach only due to earn huge taxes Renew rc accordingly 3. Keep option of hybrid ev (with solar panels) + petrol/ disesl engine so that it become cost effective & pollution free. My question from GOVT is that do scrapping of car itself not a cause of pollution??? Lead based paint of car don't cause air pollution during scraping process??? Purpose of govt is to earn huge taxes, not pollution control. They never pay attention on open burning of garbage in Delhi NCR, parali issues etc

Hey there, As per the guidelines, a vehicle is considered fit for 15 years only. Once the vehicle crosses 15 years, fitness test needs to be done periodically and if the vehicle fails to pass the fitness test. It has to be scrapped. Generation of Certification of Deposit happens through Vahan portal only and hence no need of submitting COD anywhere.

Just for notice, in Delhi Cars 24 does not get your car scrapped with authorized scrap facilities but with local dealers. You are not provided with any scrap certificate nor certificate of deposit, plus you'll only be getting the chassis plate and a letter from Cars24 about your car being scrapped which you may have to go to the RTO to surrender your RC. No other certificates. Not sure why this is the case in Delhi.

Best rules would be to make scrapping compulsory for vehicles older than 15 years, but if someone wishes to keep thier vehicle he should pay 10,000 rs year...this way only cars which are not worth keeping will only get scrapped and enthusiast cars will not get scrapped

Hey Ankit, The Car Scrap value (Money) is separate from Certificate of Deposit which has monetary benefit on discount on RTO while purchasing the new vehicle. If no intent on buying a new vehicle, then COD is a tradeable digital asset that could fetch money.
