@ I honestly really enjoy all of Sutherland’s work, even if they are aimed at a slightly younger audience. Have you read the Menagerie? It’s an interesting urban fantasy trilogy also by her.

God I haven't thought about wings of fire in years, I still have the series on my shelf

Yeah, it's nice seeing fiction becoming "real" in the sense that it influences us. The best example i can think of is star trek, so many people were inspired to become scientists, engineers, etc. because of it. It even inspired the development of cell phones! Also, wings of fire > warrior cats

So I'm not the only schizo this whole time? Honestly I think the most powerful thing an author can do to you is inspire you with a character they wrote, which you then instill their personality in your head and let them guide/serve as your moral compass. In the world where alpha male personalities and Tate stans exist, I'd rather have a kid grow up not wanting to disappoint their favourite character.

I love how you bring up the whole alpha male culture. Working with kids, I’ve seen the influence these poor role models can have. Books for young readers have the same potential, so it’s awesome when a well written character can be a better inspiration
