So doing video's a bit different. Instead of doing, an alternate history video with half history, then alternate. I decided to do two full videos about the same topic. One history. One alternate history. That way I can full flesh out both parts, without sacrificing for the sake of time. While right now this is just the history. The next video "What if Britain Never Took Over India?", will be a lot more fleshed out of a scenario. And will come out far sooner, since I have already done the research, made assets, etc.

Is that corporations are extremely good in maximizing profits, but healthy economy demand competition and without it corporations become inefficient (what we for example see in oligarchic Russia, where government control market through Licensed monopolies). Monopoly is most anti-capitalistic practice in existence and healthy economy demand regulations from wise government to keep it that way. At the same time corporations with they predatory practices, actually proved to be absolute failures outside sheltered markets. Real politic is based on balance of power, basically keeping everyone happy though systematic regulations (it is also why despite its flaws democracy work so well). When corporations with they mentality basically are guaranteed to piss everyone. It is why business-politic relations are not only toxic, but in many countries downright illegal. @pokezee king-wolf i am taking about the 1700s when the uk conquered most of it's territory, also the uk had a small army so of course they could not face napoleon that had the largest army in the world at the time. you are talking about the later period we referring to machine guns also, that was when when the british practically conquered everything and invented the modern world that you dwell in today. i am talking about red coat days when british men made all of Asia bow with noting but a one shot musket. always outgunned outnumber in most conflicts too but manage to kill more. my point still stands about the mongols too, shoot at a distance and run away when too close on a fast horse as well, that is how they won all battles. effective but cowardly. British shoot and run towards and all the racism and lies will not change that. also other Europeans were also harder then the monglos in their prime. no Mongolian would of fought like how the Russians and French did in the Napoleonic wars, the eastern front was savage and on the scale of modern warfare, not weak medieval war fare where only a few hundred died and war over like most mongol wars, no more like hardcore British and German ww1 levels of death where thousands of real men charging into machine guns and dying daily. where mustard gas barbed wire and dead bodies fill the battle filed. it makes mongols shooting arrows at a distance on ponies look like massive pussies especially for how famous they were for all the raping and killing after victory. European especially British were flogged to death for rape it rarely happened.

I’m happy you didn’t play polemics or focus on one part more than another. It’s a rather complex integrated system and I am happy how you conveyed how these old companies work. It’s a little odd coming from the modern perspective, but you explained the interesting mix of state backed, but publicly funded, and privately owned well. I would also recommend Reading the company charters as well as some Aristotelian and guild papers (maybe leviathan too) to understand the intellectual grounding in the “corpore” or corporate body. I'm from western North Carolina, and there is a really cool unit from the civil war called the Thomas Legion that is semi known around here to historians. They need more recognition and it is a very interesting group to do research on, from their commander to their troops and politics. Maybe you could include them in a potential video about crazy or unique military groups through history.

What else would you have seen imperialism at the time being? The only empire that Europe had in the sense that it was called an empire and given the prestige of one was ousted about a hundred years before at the end of the Holy Roman Empire. China was defeated by unequal treaties, conquest, and civil wars, and was at the time the only other place a European would usually have seen as an state that could hold the title of an empire. Those empires were gone. The ancient ones given legacies of millenia, out. Business drove new empires and while empires have always involved trade, they scale of business with these stock corporations was massively different.
@voltagedrop58994 жыл бұрын
+Logoncal if he did actually mean that, he was just wrong. The industrial revolution was the very beginning of capitalism, and imperialism was just Europeans leveraging their superior intellect to make guns, warships and artillery with intention of conquering barbarian savages in other parts of the globe. But it was sucked dry over and over throughout the history because of it's potential. Even Today this hasn't changed. Not just for Bengal but the entire Indian Subcontinent. The Blessing of Fertile land and plentiful labor became a curse instead of blessing as it attracted foreign powers from everywhere of the world and which in turn made people selfish and blind to the greater good.

Bangladesh does not have that oligarchy but it has been crippled by corruption for the last 40 years. Corporation - a large company or group of companies authorized to act as a single entity and *recognized as such in law*. (I.e. a collective body of companies authorised to act as one, autonomously of a state and recognised by that state) Private - belonging to or for the use of one particular person or group of people only. Private company - a company whose shares may not be offered to the public for sale and which operates under legal requirements less strict than those for a public company To go public - the process of selling shares that were formerly held privately and are now available to new investors for the first time The VOC nor British East India Company were private companies. They were corporations. A corporation is NOT private, it is PUBLIC - it sells its shares PUBLICLY - it is open to a section of the PUBLIC (its shareholders) for oversight and scrutiny.

Almost every Indian knows why, our kingdoms didn’t give a shit about the others, there was no concept of India at that time and they all cooperated with some European power for their own gain. They all had no unity ,constantly fought each other and most importantly were played by the British against each other. Then the brits would pick up the shattered pieces. Lastly there was a big technological gap, armies of tens of thousands of Indians were defeated by only a few hundred British soldiers. That’s why just the company was enough to conquer. This was my opinion on the matter . Thank you
@quisqueyanguy1204 жыл бұрын

Only someone who has never read a single history book will say that there was no concept of India before the Brits. British created the nation-state of India, the idea of India long precedes them. If you ever read a history book you will come to know that the Marathas ruled most of India and were on their way to conquer all of India if not for the British. Before them, there were the Mughals who were cut short by the Marathas. Also, the technological gap wasn't that large actually. Marathas and the likes of Tipu Sultan already had a European styled military and defeated the Brits and Portuguese in several battles. I highly recommend The Anarchy by William Dalrymple who explains this in details. Highly recommended for someone who has never read a history book I presume. In short, the Seths and Bankers played a huge role in the British colonisation of India.
