Impressive that they digged a deep investigation into motivation behind the assassination when it was already obvious who did it. I truly believe the fact that they did this is the very prime reason why homicide rate in Japan is low. Most other places would simply jail the person and give 0 f*ck for the reasons why he decided to assassinate someone. When you study reasons into homicide it helps you to prevent future incidents.
@jeremyjackson74298 ай бұрын
I saw a video explaining this phenomenon. Japanese people are more likely to assign collective blame rather than individual blame. When someone does a heinous crime, their superiors and acquaintances are also likely to be blamed. As a collective society, they're more likely to assign blame that encompasses the entire group instead of solely the single individual.
@Sanakudou8 ай бұрын
I’m personally quite skeptical of the accuracy of their homicide rates in Japan, especially if they’re calculating based on convictions and not dead bodies, because until fairly recently there was a statue of limitation on homicide, which meant if you didn’t catch the killer in a set amount of time, they would get away with it, even if you later found irrefutable proof of their guilt they couldn’t be charged for the crime. So, depending on how Japan’s murder rate is calculated, it could be quite misleading, perhaps it’s still dramatically lower than other countries but still not AS low as the statistics insinuate. It’s something I’d have loved to verify myself but due to the data coming from Japanese source it really requires a Japanese speaking individual to truly be able to investigate the integrity of the data being used for this statistic. Regardless, I think the most simplest explanation for why this investigation occurred is the fact it was a high profile political figure that was assassinated, with it occurring right in front of a multitude of main stream journalists/TV crews who captured everything as it unfolded. The innovative and unique murder weapon on its own was also enough to ensure it’d be impossible for any member of the general public to be satisfied with a reductive explanation of “political extremism” as the motive for the murder. The sympathetic backstory of the killer also seems to go viral online instantly after the crime occurred, adding even more intrigue. Bizarrely specific crimes always prompt the public’s desire for equally specific explanations.
@ming39207 ай бұрын
Well, it is a huge political assassination, so obviously they need to question the motive, whether or not there are foreign powers connected to the assassin and so on.

Japan's, "peacefulness" is due to their EXTREAMILY TENSE sociatal standards. They have a VERY, "take responcibility for your actions" sociatal standard. So much so that, a TONE of innocents who get arrested are FORCED to admit that they commited a crime that they didnt commit. This results in people not wanting to take the risk because once your caught, you have a VERY little chance of getting away with the crime. Its also important to note how much work is dumped onto the Japanese citizens. Add that strict responcibility beliefe to a minimum 6 days a week work schedual with 8 hours a day and you have the potential for a bunch of overtime hours. Lots of overtime is seen as you being a lazy worker. Anyone with a functional brain can see the spark to a MASSIVE problem here. Basically, Japan replaced its crime with suicides.

He was American and his wife Japanese, and he explained to me that they basically set up arranged marriages from their parents, so they knew each other. I noticed that they seemed to encourage international marriages. I actually wonder what has happened to those couples since the assassination, whether they stayed or split. It's been a very strange time for us to be back living in Japan, but I haven't heard anything like that again since 2015 at least. OBF, I appreciate the information you have shared. I had no idea about this. One suggestion: If you could attenuate the bass in your audio, it would make your voice clearer. You have a pleasant voice, and good pacing, but for me the audio sounds quite muddy. Bass gives fullness, richness, depth. But treble gives clarity. And for a serious, informative voiceover like this one, clarity is far more important. Other than that, keep up the good work!

This is a great video explaining the ties between extreme religious cults and politics. It would be awesome to see you cover Falun Gong next, which is basically the same shit of: Worshipping the supreme leader who claims to be the new Messiah, rejecting modern medicine, breaking ties with family and friends who refuse to join you on your cult journey, and teaching you hatred of a political movement - Communism - and teaching supreme race theories (The Moon cult taught that Koreans are the supreme race and the origin of all earthly culture, Falun Gong teaches that Chinese is the supreme race and the origin of global civilisation). Both cults have garnered insane amount of funds and have their hands deep in various governments around their world, and control media to a great extent The most horrifying thing is this: Both carry the motto of peace and seem completely unassuming at first, seemingly being there to help you improve your personal health through meditation.
