I really dislike how nowadays a youtube vid can't talk about hot button political topics without the algorithm punishing the creator. Sadly there are huge numbers of people who consider people with different views than theirs being a reason for a boycott of advertisers. So to keep advertisers happy, they can't have balanced analysis of matters. The problem long term is that this ensures that the kind of people who would boycott simply due to balanced news coverage never realise that they themselves have an extremist view. On top of this, there are sometimes issues that are simply black and white and right and wrong. You're already dealing with people pushing the wrong side of those. This is done by overworked and underpaid people having to sort either the news or the KZbin algorithm.

From what I remember Israel is now developing a laser-based replacement to Iron Dome, which would have a hefty initial price but from then on interceptions would be practically free by comparison (just the cost of electricity and that's about it). @@besher532 The US uses 30kW-50kW lasers in our systems, while the Israelis use 100kW-150kW in theirs, so their range is FAR greater. Also, the boat analogy isn't really accurate, as rockets are carrying an explosive payload and so even a few seconds of concentrated heat can easily cause them to explode (it's similar to how the most vulnerable point on a ship is the ammunitions locker), while a patrol boat is just a lot of inert metal that won't auto-ignite.

Basically the “Iron Dome” system is very good at its job but if it’s facing hundreds to thousands of rockets fired simultaneously then it’s almost impossible for it to take out every threat meaning some get through to there targets. Also find it kind of crazy that some of Hammas missles cost less than my iPhone 15 pro max, that is crazy always thought missles were at least a couple thousand on the lower end.

Things can get very cheap if you skip on everything except the essentials. A car that has barely more than an engine and wheels would be very cheap. The extra stuff (brakes, gear shift, mirrors) costs extra. If you want a rocket that flies and goes boom, that's cheap. If you want to make sure it doesn't backfire in your face (like ~30% of Palestinian rockets), that costs extra.

@@mohameddz5225 From what I understand, the conflict started from the escalation of violence between muslims and jews, especially in jerusalem, so there isn't an "evil" country that started it all, it's more like independent fights that grew into an international conflict. But no matter who started the fight or who is the bad guy, launching thousands of rockets on civilians will not solve anything at it's core. And as the United Nations, European Union and even some Israeli officials consider these rockets as terrorism and several human rights group consider this as war crime, all of which probably did more thorough research that both you and me, I think we can all agree that this should just not happen.
