I had several of her hair care product lines under Carol's Daughter. Hair milk, monoi, Tui, and Lisas Hair Elixir. And I could almost pinpoint the moment she sold because the formulas changed, and my hair stopped responding well to the products. Then they got rid of certain products, like the amazing ethereal smelling and smoothing Tui oil. The only single product I have now is the Goddess Strength oil which I only use a few times a year if I run out of the organic grapeseed oil I usually use. While I love our people being able to profit from their hard work, it sucks the quality of their lines usually tank when they sell. Too bad, so sad.

I used to love CD. The products worked for my skin and hair. I didn't know she had sold but at some point I noticed the milk and Monoi hair products left my hair feeling healthy and clean. Then I noticed one of the body washes started to leave my skin dry, itchy, and flaky. I had to stop using it. It's so sad because I will no longer be able to get the Almond Vanilla cookie body wash. It was the only thing besides Cetaphil that doesn't make me itch. Thanks for the info.

So funny how these people complain about her being a sellout, but if they were supporting the brand by purchasing the product then she wouldn’t have had to do. They’re happy to biggup with their mouths but not their pockets.

I find that a lot of people online believe that words and praise are the same as financial support, which it is not. That's why I like the phrase we speak with our wallets and not our words. I hope we can get to a point where black-owned businesses can truly be supported in this way. Thank you for commenting and for stopping by our channel!

I currently use Oyin Homemade. Hopefully they’ll stay family owned. The reason for the uproar often has to do with changing the formulation whenever the business is bought out.

The issue is that when you have investors, the creators don’t have the final say. Also you have to consider the demographic group the product is meant for. Black women overwhelmingly are not brand loyal to hair products or stylist. So many say support black owned businesses but they only do to a minor degree if at all. How people will encourage others to spend their money is different that how they will spend their own.

I hope Honey Pot isn’t selling. What happens with white corporations who acquire black businesses, is they don’t have the same care about the product and community like their owners.

Yes but bankruptcy is very different once you hit over 1 million. Understand. Its also a business move that major companies utilize for their own benefits. It's common! The fact that she accomplished such a bout says a lot. People tend to call it a fail but the girl WON. regardless🎉

I miss the body products from cd. Thanks for letting us know that the body products are still available bc i didnt realize that! Firstbought after reading an article in essence in like late 90s early 2000s and I remember erykah badu talking sbout how she loved their products. Excellent vid. People should be allowed to sell if they want to 🤷🏾♀️

Instead of blaming bp for selling their businesses, make your own... It is interesting that the businesses mentioned is monopolized by Asians. We need to accept that we dropped the ball in the early 70s. The children of our business owners refused to take over the business or did so unsuccessfully

I was an OG Carols Daughter user. I used to love her herbal bath soaks (smelled so good), incense and my favorite body products in Jamaican Punch smh.
@lakithagoss8972 жыл бұрын
I loved her products when they had the flagship store in Brooklyn. The Jamaican Punch and Almond Cookie products were excellent. The Tsui hair oil was one of my favorites also. With commercialization, the Almond Cookie became very weak in scent. Commercialization lowered product quality.

I remember that the Almond Cookie body lotion used to smell stronger and the scent used to last for hours; now it’s barely noticeable and is not as moisturizing like it used to be years ago.

I just bought a detangler from this line that I like. I started using carols daughter off and on since 2010. I was sad when she sold it off, but at least she has a say. I hate when black entrepreneurs end up selling the company. I can't begin to even try to understand what their lives must be like or why they chose to sell after all it's their business so it's absolutely their choice, but I wish that they would keep the business. If you're military the commissary sells CD too.

5:07 change the “projectory”..? I really am saying this with love: please don’t use words you are unfamiliar with/don’t know what they mean. People won’t hold it against you if you don’t use large vocabulary words, but they almost certainly won’t take you serious if you’re using large vocabulary words incorrectly. Very informative video, tfs!

She misspoke. It’s normal. It doesn’t necessarily mean she doesn’t know the word, and tbh I didn’t notice at first until you brought it up(it’s easy to say projectory instead of trajectory). Anyways it’s still a good video nonetheless and she’s learning so good on her

Once its sold....the bigger company (Johnson &Johnson, protector and gamble.. etc.(want money. Especially knowing black woman internationally are the biggest consumers. They want money. So in comes the additives, preservatives, dyes etc. It dries our hair out. We move on. I didn't know a black woman who didn't have the brand. But once it sold the quality went down
