Absolutely true. There's no way to know how things would have gone if he had not drawn his gun. I will say this, though - simple muggers are likely to flee as soon as you start fighting back. The fact that these guys unloaded so many rounds into him makes me think they were possibly going to kill him anyway.

statically possessing a firearm is the leading cause of firearm related deaths, in other words, the whole "good guy with a gun" is a myth." It's possible (and even likely) he would have simply been robbed but the moment he brandished HIS firearm he became a threat to the others and they opened fire. This is why the data overwhelmingly says its best to not be seen with a firearm and there's only rare occurrences where its actually been proven to have saved "good guys" lives.
@BacchianАй бұрын
@@cruisinguy6024 Saying the leading cause of firearm death is possessing a firearm is like saying being alive is the leading cause of death. The leading cause of firearm death is overwhelmingly by intentional self-infliction, followed by inner city violence, which I suppose could be misleadingly framed as such. Deceptive studies setting out to characterize the "good guy with a gun" as a myth are based off primarily police and FBI data, where the former doesn't actually track instances where a gun prevents a crime and the latter doesn't accurately track all mass shootings that are ended by a gun owner's intervention, thereby rendering them pointless for good faith discussion of the issue.
@sbrehenyАй бұрын
@@cruisinguy6024 most firearms deaths are self-inflicted. Most of the time when a victim draws a gun, the criminal runs away, with no shots being fired by either the criminal or the victim. Most of these incidents are never reported or recorded and don't make it into most statistics (although some studies have tried to include them and found them to be likely common). But even the official FBI statistics do not support your notion that "good guys" with a gun are rare.

I didn't say it was legal, moral, or proper to restrict God-given rights, but they CAN be restricted. We see that in the GCA and FFA and other restrictive gun laws. But, the restriction of the exercise of rights is NOT the same thing as the right itself. If yo are crossing an intersection and your light is green, you have the right of way to cross. If a semi truck is bearing down on you with bad brakes, do you wish to exercise your rights? You certainly can. But just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you should. This is why our governments are evil. They write laws that restrict your right to exercise your rights. When did you start thinking I disagreed with your position? The thugs took his life and ended his ability to exercise ALL and ANY of his rights. Period. They did it. When a militarized swat team in full body armor, flash bangs, Mwraps and automatic rifles come to your house to take away your guns, they will curtail your right to exercise your rights unless you have sustained force greater than theirs. But they CANNOT, take away you right of self-defense, or the right to keep and bear arms. You can defend yourself at this point. Thaty is your right to exercise. But do you WANT to?

I feel like juveniles shouldn’t be allowed to get away with murder. Maybe it’s just me
@DavidCianiАй бұрын
I wouldn't say "get away with," but the circumstances can vary drastically from case to case for cases with juveniles. When we, as a society, fail our children, we have to share and accept responsibility for the consequences.

The fact of whether or not Ford had a permit to carry legally or not helps nothing in the narrative. The 2nd amendment is your carry permit. Your divine right to self defense is your permit. A background check and coercion money to be able to exercise your right does not negate a self defense claim. Him carrying legally or illegally does not make his death any more tragic. He died defending himself righteously. That's the only thing that matters!
@DavidCianiАй бұрын
Like it or not, the permit is a legal requirement in many places. Emphasizing that he had one is reiterating the "he was following the law and did nothing wrong" aspect.

The criminal complaining that everyone looks at him like a criminal shows that guy's mom drank and did drugs while she was pregnant.
