Thanks for this! I was happy to find a repair that didn’t bore all the way to the deck, I really didn’t want to do that. What I did do though was remove a small circle of foam right underneath the glass, I saw it as an option on FCS’s install manual and figured that might add a bit more strength. I’m doing this for canard plugs anyway so I figured I could get away with not going all the way to the deck.

I just installed a single plug for a bonzer, unfortunately I didn’t have a dummy single tab fin and used a piece of wood. Long story short my fin plug didn’t line up on the fin marking it is more of a straight line.i guess the only way of fixing this is to completely cut it out and start over?

Gutted, dummy fins are key! Yea thats pretty much your only option if you're that unhappy with it!

Do you need the fcs holesaw bit? Or can I just buy a 1” one from the hardware store?
@smallkinedings8 ай бұрын
Any old one from a hardware store will do it. The only real benefit to the fcs one is the depth setter so you can switch between plugs and leash plugs but that's easily sorted with a bit of electrical tape marking your depths

Awesome video! Highly proper job Good sense of humor there Ive never seen that doorknob tool for fcs fins but ive always got through to the other side in ghetto ways hahaha I aways hated sanding away the yellowing on boards makes it all blotchy but just a part of the business i guess Sure is a lot of waiting with epoxy
@smallkinedings2 жыл бұрын
Cheers man! Yea the blotchy Ness can be an issue, depending on the board, sometimes I'll sand the whole board 320 and up then polish to tie it all in together. This board certainly not worth that though! Drying time of epoxy is very annoying 😂

Nice! What kind of expanding foam do you use?
@smallkinedings2 жыл бұрын
It's a two part PU foam, this one's a 56kg density but I'll use 64kg or 32kg depending on the job. I have some videos coming on the foams so stay tuned and I will definitely shed some light on them

@@smallkinedings Excellent. I want to start using this for repairs. I have old pieces of foam, but making them fit would be a hassle in some situations.
@smallkinedings2 жыл бұрын
@@DH-lq3cx I get that, it's good to have both options available. The next video which will come out next week, I'll be doing 2 fcs2 repairs, one with expanding PU and the other with spare foam from a blank. So we'll compare the 2 and see the pros and cons of both

How much would you charge for this repair?
@smallkinedings2 жыл бұрын
These plugs start at $80 for a replacement any painting needed or significant damage around the plug would add to that, but I'd say these ones would of been bang on 80 bucks NZD
