Casey’s Long Covid recovery success story - how increasing serotonin was an effective treatment for Long Covid
Casey’s life was turned upside down after he caught Covid in January 2022. From running and cycling regularly he now struggled to walk 500m. His Long Covid symptoms included heart palpitations, brain fog and hard to control emotions. He found himself becoming angry easily and couldn’t understand why.
Learning about pacing and having therapy to deal with the trauma of chronic illness helped him feel much better within himself. After reading a scientific study that discovered many people with Long Covid have low serotonin levels Casey thought this could apply to him. Within 48 hours of beginning treatment he went from feeling 20% to 70%. Within a week he was able to walk 4-5km and hasn’t had brainfog since taking the supplements!

@@elmerhernandez3780we were not unprepared for a pandemic. The majority were sabotaged by the decisions made by their own governments who decided to do the exact opposite of anything rational for 2+ years. What you witnessed was a controlled demolition which was used to restructure society and bring about rapid changes under the guise of safety and emergency preparedness. This happens continually throughout history and has happened multiple times in our lifetime already - I don't understand why there are still many of you who are repeating main stream talking points. The only certainty is that we were all lied to about everything that happened with whatever Covid was. There are only so many mistakes that can be logically dismissed as incompetence, before one must confront the fact that corruption is at the core of a situation.

Thank you so much, Casey. I'm 83 and developed Covid...a mild case the first of March, '24. Around the first of May I developed extreme fatigue (I'd been walking 2 miles per day since a heart attack a year ago) and have been sleeping 10 hours/night plus a couple of two hour naps daily. And definitely brain fog..difficulty making decisions and no motivation. I've been watching medical discussions, but they were so technical and honestly offered little hope. Deep down I KNEW that alternative treatment was available somewhere and you have experienced this. I will talk to my cardiologist before starting 5-HTP etc., but just know that you have given me HOPE and I am so very grateful 💖

Most symptoms go away by changing your dieet to low histamine and fasting and taking Tulsi Milkthistle Woodworm soursop moringa vit d Nac and charcoal. I started with omad, low histamine no sugar and processed food. Now three months later the gut and stomach dont hurt anymore. Naussea is gone. After two days i felt better with brainfog and sleep very good. When i eat something bad now i get the panic attacks and depression. it is a puzzle 😂😂. Toxic human stress brought me in a new crash. Avoid them too. 😂😂 I use a diffuser with pure rose oil and helichrysum to be relaxed. Tulsi also calms the nerves. The oils didnt restore my smell yet unfortunaly. I have the Visible app now too for pacing. Also a good tool. When i have legcramps and could not walk for days i use charcoal. I dont know why it works. I was so desperate i tried a lot. Maybe it was toxic in my muscle? Never came back. So i am good with it. 😂😂 Good luck on your journey.

My son's wellness doctor also prescribed NAC 600 [pure encapsulations],Methyl-balance [Klaire labs], antihistamines [zyrtec], and florassist balance[Life Extension]. LDN .5 and raised every two weeks until 2.5. My son got covid several times but not the shot. This doctor said to ALWAYS treat covid with an antibiotic, do not think you will build an immunity to it. This was created in a lab, and you will not beat it.This creates inflammation, so a low histamine diet was also suggested. We went off red meat,pork,wheat, and dairy,and went to plant based. Also, dairy and gluten free.He is doing great now. Once in a while, he gets a little dizzy. We also found out he had hasimotos during this. The virus, long covid attacks the thyroid first because of the ACE2. Symptoms are the same. It has been a year and a long battle. He got myocardits in April 2023 from so many covid infections that went untreated,they think. The hospital ran a bunch of viruses test and found nothing.

Choline is also a methyl doner. Undermethylated people will have a wide variety of issues including fatigue , depression and low serotonin. Anyone with the mthfr gene is at risk of low methylation. Choline and Tmg are excellent additional methyl doners. Eggs are a great source of choline.

@Keithzzzzt
@Keithzzzzt 12 күн бұрын
@@rangerdoc1029 thats unfortunate...10% of mthfr people will not respond well to b vits, especially folate. The extra folate seems to trigger yet another gene that increases the rate of clearance of serotonin from the brain which can exacerbate depression or anxiety. Have you tried choline and Tmg to raise your methylation status? Agmatine ...an amino acid , haa been shown to cure depression in as little as three days. It puts a blanket on my racing thoughts...but again, it depends on the genetics of the person. I gave a friend some agmatine to try and it made her jittery. It can increase epinephrine in the brain and if you are already a high adrenaline person it will make it worse. I suspected she also had the COMT genes. It results in poor clearance of epinephrine and dopamine from the brain. Its called the " warrier or worrier gene" depending on what combo you have. These people are wired but tired. Are you on a ketogenic diet? A ketogenic diet is now proven to cure depression, anxiety, bi polar disorders and even schizophrenia. It rebuilds mitochondria by 400% and reduces oxidative stress and immune reactions in the brain. 2 good books are " Brain Energy" by Dr Chris Palmer and " Nutrient Power" by Dr William Walsh. There are many causes of depresssion and you almost have to become your own naturopath to find the solution. Carbohydrates and suger are the brains enemy because they result in oxidative stress in the brain and insulin resistence. Anything that lowers this stress...like a keto or carnivore diet...omega 3s, various supplements amino acids will help. Exercise will also help by increasing BDNF. Good luck.

Eventually a course of ivermectin and hydroxichloroquine helped get me over the hump. Focus on gut biome was useful. Curcumin, B3, etc. Fortunate to b a stay at home mom with good prior health, physically active my whole life, & with financial resources. Homeschooling & gardening became difficult where before they were my passions. The scary thing is I got covid again in dec and weeks after , I started noticing mild long covid symptoms again. I have suffered with long covid for 15 months now. 5 er trips in the beginning with high heart rate and palpitations. I have spent a few thousand on supplements trying to get myself back. Palpitations, internal tremors, trouble sleeping and anxiety that I never had in my life. All my symptoms are now gone or managed except for the anxiety that is my biggest issue now. I found many studies how low iron is a major player in long covid. Not that we don't have enough just our bodies cant use what we have properly. So we need to add more and try to use what we have better. Once I started supplementing Iron my palpitations went away. Your hair loss and palpitations are iron deficiency symptoms. I take an iron supplement and lactoferrin which helps the body use the iron we have better. This is not medical advice but worth trying. Also Magnesium taurate is great for palpitations.

Myself, wife who was born with a heart condition and 2 daughters in their early 20s never had any of the jabs or wore masks etc, covid was never an issue, several of my friends and family that did take the jabs now have heart and other health issues requiring ongoing treatment and 3 of them hospitalised with blood clots, they also complain of constantly getting colds and other viruses, also 2 people in my village had heart attacks within a few weeks of first jab, both under 50 years old. My reason for not getting the jabs is something just didn't sit right with me after a few weeks into the so called pandemic, could see most of it was propaganda to create the fear for compliance....

I don't doubt your personal observations about the jab however want to note that the dangers of covid are far worse than the dangers of vaccination. We each have to weigh our risks in life though. Also for people who have long covid, getting vaccinated helps 60% BUT worsens the symptoms for 20% of those who have long covid. I don't know if Dr. Daniel Griffin talks about getting vaccinated for prevention in this video although he regularly references evidence about covid vaccinations helping reduce risk of illness from covid - but he has quite a bit of info on dealing with long Covid at the end. kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4GtpHSLoNN7l6s

Most of the people I know who have it are UNVACCINATED. I also don’t know many people with problems from the jabs despite living in Austria where it was mandatory. NAC really helps with emotions, and helps stabilize ups and downs. LDN really works to heal brain fog. My issue yet to resolve is muscle weakness, and neuropathy. I believe that the issue is a blood flow problem since I have POTS. I believe the theory in microclots and damage to the endothelium. I'm going to try Nattokinase and vit K2. One thing...plz keep trying to find solutions. Healing IS possible and we don't have to accept this low quality of life. I like the idea of managing expectations, and not being to hard on ourselves, but I really believe we can find solutions if we help each other. LDN, black seed oil, and NAC made a huge difference. this is great, thanks for sharing. I've been taking 5-htp for a while, and I think it corresponded with an improvement in my mood and sleep, but not really a change in physical energy. I agree that acceptance is a crucial step in the recovery process. Would you say that it was important to get your pacing sorted before you found the serotonin supplement changes? I have a suspicion that the supplements' benefits might not have stuck if you weren't so good at pacing when you started them. I suspect that I haven't been pacing well enough, going over 50% too frequently, but I also just started ADHD medication so I'm trying to adjust to that too. It might make it a little too easy to over do it. I'm hoping to take a neurotransmitter test soon, and will definitely ask my doctor about adding l-tyrosine, since people with ADHD often have low dopamine.

Pacing helps and I still rely on it (although not as much as before). I still get wiped out and need to recover, but the cycle is much shorter now. My biggest contributor is sleep, and I've completely cut alcohol out of my life. I found that even one drink gives me a two day hangover.

@@CaseyGoodhew Yes, I'm finding sleep to be really important too. I had to cut out alcohol too, about 10 years ago because I think my fatigue issues were already starting then. (I suspect The fatigue was Possibly related to neurotransmitter issues) Alcohol has a very negative effect on your gut microbiome, which then affects your physical and mental health. How much 5-htp were you taking? I'm currently taking 100mg 2x per day, but I'm wondering if I've more or less corrected the serotonin levels and can cut back on it. pacing can be tricky, I think it’s normally to sometimes accidentally overdo it and have a set back but that does also help you know where your baseline is 😊

Just be careful with the serotonin. I was placed back on Cymbalta for nerve pains, I also live with chronic pain, while I was still on Busbar. After 12 or more days, I felt like I was on cloud 9. I couldn't remember ever feeling so good, but a few days later, everything came crashing down. I went a month on 3 to 4 hours of sleep a night. I then began getting very manic!! By now, I'm off the Busbar and just taking 60 mgs of Cymbalta. My doctor lowered my Cymbalta and will gradually increase it to 60 mgs. Just be careful of too much serotonin!!!

@@michaelb1621 fatigue is a sign from your body you are pushing to hard. Try increasing your activity level at a slower rate. eg. Try 10 mins walk instead of 20 minutes, and increase by 1 minute at a time instead of 5. Recovery is a slow and steady process…think of yourself as a tortoise rather than a hare! You will get there but slowly does it!

I just found out it’s called long-haul. I have what I have always called long mono or Epstein-Barr. I also have Ehlers Danlos syndrome. And have developed POTS, IBD, high rheumatoid factor, and have lived with chronic pain and fatigue for seven years. I have tried to slowly work up my endurance several times and I always end up crashing really hard for about a week. I can’t figure out how to do more without hurting myself. Chronic UTIs, calcific tendinitis all over joints and everything else under the umbrella of Dysautonomia. Happy to hear it has helped you.

Sorry to hear you are having so many health challenges, it must be tough! I have found that as I have been able to get some of my health conditions under control (eg improving gut health and balancing hormones) I am able to increase my activity level without crashing. As though as my body improves in function it can naturally do more. Whereas when I tried to increase my levels by gradually pushing myself to do more it often ended in a crash. Perhaps taking a similar approach may help you

@@livingwithmecfs I wear an estrogen patch, and it seems to help my night sweating bit. I also have sensitivities to most foods so I eat a very bland and small diet eating the same thing pretty much every day. I do not eat sugar, flour, beef, or pork. Only dairy product is cheese randomly. Also, I’m allergic to almost all dark green vegetables, and fruits as well. I can do green pepper and cucumber, carrots, and celery, blueberries, and apples. I do a protein shake every day to get more calories and eat mostly chicken and rice in the evening with raw veggies . Do you have any other suggestions of foods I should try to add into my diet.
