Today I break down one of the most well known movies in the Fast and Furious franchise from a cultural and performance viewpoint. The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift is a 2006 action film directed by Justin Lin, with a screenplay by Chris Morgan. It is a stand alone sequel for 2 Fast 2 Furious and the third installment in the Fast & Furious franchise.

@iori Oki How long have you been here in the States if you don't mind me asking? It was nice seeing a Japan local react to one of my favorite movies growing up. I used to be obsessed with the Fast and Furious franchise, Need for Speed, car culture and all that. I'm trying to get back into it.

1. Great Reaction. 2.I have no idea why this doesn't have more likes. 3. Lucas is actually from Alabama and that's his natural accent (More or less) 4. In general, I think the cast did an OK job. I just think the writing was kinda off. I saw what they were trying to do. I appreciated it. It definitely could have been done better. 5. While it may be slower in many instances, I definitely prefer the SOUND of an old school carbureted engine. (Also, side note. They took the engine out of the "Mona Lisa" and stuck it in Dad's old Mustang. Not sure if that would actually work but if it DID then Japanese parts for a Japanese engine would be relatively available. No Idea where they got the money though.) 6. Suspension work, for a drift car, was definitely lacking. They focused more on the engine (Just like they do in every FF movie)

The whole tattoo at the spa thing is extremely REAL!!! I was vacationing with some friends years ago. We had booked a weekend at an onsen-hotel. @@ioriOki a sequence featuring a group of racers drifting through the cross-section. Getting a film permit is difficult in Tokyo, especially when it comes to foreigners. Lin had been outspoken about this fact, but he took the risk and went through with filming without the appropriate permission. The decision resulted in an arrest but the studio, Universal Pictures, was prepared for the situation.
